Volunteer attorneys from the Hawaii State Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

Home Build for those in need of a new home. Home Preservation for those in need to repair their existing home including making it ADA compliant. Honolulu Habitat for Humanity helps families build, purchase or repair their own homes. Families work alongside volunteers. The programs are financed through Honolulu Habitat's low to no interest mortgage program. Builds and renovates homes using volunteer labor and donated materials, at no profit and no interest. Homeowners repay the cost over a fixed time period; payments are recycled to build more homes. It requires homeowners to participate in construction as well as help other prospective homeowners build theirs. In addition to providing direct services, we simultaneously engage the ALS community in activities that accelerate the search for effective treatments and cures. The Chapter’s Care Services program is an evidence based “wraparound model of care” that combines fully coordinated and individualized medical care with community and home-based services and support. This model is clinically proven to help people live longer and better with ALS, as it addresses the medical, social, emotional, and financial challenges they face. The Chapter’s approach in the state of Hawaii is unduplicated and tailored for each client and their loved ones. For example, Care Managers help clients and their loved ones access information and resources in their communities, connect with clinicians who specialize in ALS, obtain durable medical equipment and augmentative communication devices available through the Chapter’s Equipment Loan Program, understand and navigate insurance benefits, provide guidance around home modification, help find professional caregivers, and connect with others living with ALS. You transport your foster to appointments and love him/her as your own! Fostering timeframe can vary from a minimum of 30 days to potentially a few months, depending on each individual circumstance.

(Food Pantry, St Joseph Catholic Church Food Pantry) Saint Joseph Catholic Church provides a food pantry for those in need. Each household receives one bag of groceries and one bag of fresh vegetables and/or frozen items. Households with 4 or more members receives two bags of groceries and two bags of fresh vegetables and/or frozen items. Clients need to register with the Food Pantry to qualify when they receive their food items for the first time. Food donations of canned fruits, meats, soup, beans, vegetables, cereal, and juice are welcome. Any food donations can be left in the food donation bin at the entrance of the church.

We are a local nonprofit agency that is part of a national network of organizations and individuals committed to improving Hawaii's maternal, child and family health through collaborative efforts in public education, advocacy and partner development. We offer a MothersCare Hotline, an online resource directory, and a health text messaging resource called Text4Baby. A coalition that promotes a better system of care for pregnant and parenting women and their families. Activities include helping pregnant women get prenatal care and health insurance, producing perinatal education and information, and conducting trainings to Hawaii's perinatal providers. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs. Our network of 1,500+ pilots, as well as commercial airline partners, throughout the 13 western states donate their aircraft, piloting skills, and all flying costs to help families in need, enabling them to receive vital treatment that might otherwise be inaccessible because of financial, medical, or geographic limitations. Ambulatory patients needing medical transportation to the 13 Western States; Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming may be eligible. This includes inter-island transportation as well.
