The Design Advisory Committee advises the department on design issues related to major project proposals in special districts. The Building Board of Appeals hears and determines appeals from action of the Director of Planning and Permitting in the administration of Building, Electrical, and Plumbing Codes. Adult day care services for senior citizens of all ethnic backgrounds. Services include daily exercises, arts and crafts, socialization, outings, local entertainment, and other mentally and physically stimulating activities. We also offer bathing for an additional charge. Late Fee of $250 assessed per 30 days outstanding.

Manages public hunting areas, public hiking areas, forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, natural areas reserves. Accepts reports of forest pests, including new and unusual weeds and certain birds. Pest reports accepted include: wild pigs, snakes, large lizards, ferrets, the banana poka (a weed), the bulbul (a bird) on neighbor islands, and the mongoose on Kauai.

Adult Day Care program for elders and challenged adults needed supervised care, socialization, mental stimulation, physical activity. Also supporting caregivers to remain employed and or needing respite.

Relocation and transition services and programs. Provides job referrals.

(SSO) Department of Education Seamless Summer Option (SSO) Program provides meals free of charge at participating public schools for children 1 year old - 18 years old June 9, 2026 - July 17, 2026. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate. Schools will serve breakfast 7:15 am - 8:45 am and lunches from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. There will be no meal service on the June 11, 2026 (Kamehameha Day) and July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed) state holidays. All meals must be eaten on campus; no grab-and-go options are available. Children do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served, and meals will consist of solid foods. Bridge House Clean and Sober Living provides a residential living opportunity for people in recovery from drug/alcohol abuse. We are a culturally-based program, utilizing Hawaiian health and healing principles. We also have a vocational skills building component, which prepares individuals for entry/re-entry into the work force. We also operate an outpatient substance abuse treatment program at an off-site location that provides assessment and formal treatment.
