Funded programs—at state service commissions, tribes, and local, regional, and national organizations—use national service to address community needs across a range of focus areas. The Lyon Arboretum is a 193.5 acre botanical garden operated by the University of Hawaii. Offers tours, classes and workshops. The Arboretum's Micropropagation Lab and Seed Storage Lab both work to save Hawaii's rare and endangered plants. The Arboretum's Ethnobotanical and Hawaiian gardens are amongst the state's largest collection of cultural and native plants and help to maintain the cultural and natural heritage of Hawaii. Volunteers are needed for public tours, school tours, garden maintenance, trail maintenance, in the labs and visitor's center.

(Hale O Ulu) Youth ages 6 years old - 23 years old who are a part of or are eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) are offered individual learning plans that help them to recapture school credits, and assist them in understanding their learning styles and challenges. Students and their families are offered counseling and other social services. This helps the student to address more than just their educational issues and have the support to be successful as they continue their education. Provides alternative secondary school for high risk or alienated youths, grades 7th to 12th, who have difficulty adjusting in a traditional school. Academic and clinical counseling are integrated. Goal is to return students to regular school.

The Friends' mission is to generate community support for cancer research and education to prevent and reduce cancer-related deaths as well as improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with cancer. Waikiki Health's HIV Early Intervention Services Program is committed to the early detection and treatment of HIV, which can help prevent the onset of AIDS and other opportunistic infections. Confidential HIV and Hepatitis C testing and counseling are available at the Waikiki Health’s Ohua Clinic in Waikiki and Makahiki Medical and Dental Clinic in McCully/Moiliili. Our prevention services team offers a wide variety of programs designed to reach individuals at risk for confronting HIV.
