(H-HEAP, LIHEAP ECI, ECI, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Energy Crisis Intervention) The Hawaii Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) is a federally funded program that provides eligible low-income households with a one-time utility assistance payment. Emergency Crisis Intervention (ECI) assists households in crisis (utility termination is current or impending) by assisting with a one-time credit up to $650.00 to help restore or prevent termination of electric or gas services through Hawaiian Electric or Hawaii Gas Company. Applications are accepted on a month-by-month basis, but approvals are limited and space fills quickly. Payments are made directly to your utility company. You can choose either Energy Credit (EC) or Emergency Crisis Intervention (ECI), just one assistance per fiscal year. A checklist of additional required documents is included in the application. Documents can be sent as a PDF or JPEG as long as copies are clear. H-HEAP will not be responsible for returning original documents if sent in (e.g. ID's, Birth Certificates, Social Security Cards, Paystubs, Housing Documentation, etc.); Please provide copies only.

Fall Junior Lifeguards Program

Keiki ages 11 years old - 17 years old will learn ocean safety from City lifeguards at no cost. Children will learn rescue boards, rescue tubes, and near-shore search and rescue techniques from some of the City and County of Honolulu lifeguards. Keiki will also get an introduction to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid. Classes are free and will be held during the fall break from school: October 9-13, 2023. Provide new energy efficient appliances like refrigerators at a steep discount to the property owner/manager, look at retrofitting the water heaters to a more energy efficient system. Hawaii Energy does not provide emergency utility bill assistance or emergency crisis intervention for disconnetion notice.
