(Maui Second Circuit Self Help Center Hoapili Hale) The Maui Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Maui County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters. Access by telephone for Molokai, Lanai and Hana residents only when the center is open. The Center does not accept voice messages. Court Navigators for Lanaʻi, Maui, and Molokaʻi are now available by email In 2018, an in-person Volunteer Court Navigator Program was established in the Second Circuit (Maui County). Volunteer Court Navigators assisted unrepresented individuals at Hoapili Hale by answering questions concerning court resources, locations, and procedures. Note: Volunteer Court Navigators cannot provide legal advice or representation. The Volunteer Court Navigator Program has expanded to include services by email. Unrepresented persons can now submit requests for information to: [email protected] The Navigators will make every effort to respond to requests for information pertaining to cases in the Second Circuit (Lanaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi) within one business day, although it may sometimes take longer to obtain the information necessary to respond to requests for information.

Energy Literacy Workshops - Provides hands-on group workshop to provide practical energy efficiency and conservation tips, workshop teaches how to reduce energy use at home and save money. Energy Smart 4 Homes Program, (ES4H Program) for multifamily properties - free program to under-served population especially if renting at an apartment building, transitional property, homeless shelter, etc. Agency surveys the property and determines what energy efficient opportunities are available, can upgrades lighting and water fixtures for FREE. Technology includes LED light bulbs, high-efficiency shower heads, advanced power strips, and high-efficiency faucet aerators for the kitchen and bathroom. Provide new energy efficient appliances like refrigerators at a steep discount to the property owner/manager, look at retrofitting the water heaters to a more energy efficient system. Hawaii Energy does not provide emergency utility bill assistance or emergency crisis intervention for disconnetion notice.

The Red Cross provides disaster response to those affected by disasters in East Hawaii County and shares critical preparedness information to the community so that people can prepare before a disaster strikes. All disaster response and disaster training are provided at no charge. Training classes such as first aid, CPR and Lifeguarding are available for a fee. Navigators help families and those in underserved communities gain access to health coverage options by helping them complete their Marketplace applications, access financial assistance through HealthCare.gov, and enroll in coverage through the Marketplace, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Open enrollment starts November 1, 2022 for coverage that starts January 1, 2023 Consumers can enroll in quality and affordable health care coverage. (DOTAX) State of Hawaii Department of Taxation - Oahu collects State taxes, provides information and assistance on preparation of tax forms, provides assistance to the elderly and the disabled in filing State tax credits, issues general excise tax licenses, and furnishes State tax forms. The office handles applications for Federal Employer Identification Numbers on a limited basis and walk-ins only. Operates a comprehensive treatment program for chemically dependent adult men and women. Length of stay varies, based upon the severity of addiction and response to treatment. Includes individual, group, family counseling, and psycho-educational skill building seminars. Family participation is strongly encouraged. Operates an after-care program for former clients.

(HCAP STEM) The Ha Initiative: Creative STEM After-School Program is a free Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) after-school program for youth in grades 2-8. The program provides year-round tutoring, mentorship, and fun STEM activities in a safe after-school setting at five STEM Exploration Center locations on Oʻahu.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.
