Hawaiian Humane Society provides a pet microchipping service. Pet owners must also register their information with the company that manufactured their pet’s microchip or a free online database such as 24 Hour PetWatch or Found Animals. In 2022, the City and County of Honolulu replaced the dog licensing system with rules requiring that all pet dogs 3 months and older and cats 4 months and older must have microchip identification. Cats six months or older who are allowed outdoors are required by law to wear a collar with an identification tag.

Hina’s Legacy Rescue Foundation advocates for improving the quality of life for pets statewide. We partner with other rescues for pop events to promote pet adoption and fostering.

The purpose of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Volunteer at Hawaii State Hospital is to help the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital staff in its efforts to reduce spread of COVID-19 at the Hospital and in the community we serve. The volunteer will also help with efforts to inform staff, patients, family members of patients, and others in the Hospital's service community on how they can help reduce risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19. Volunteers will help by using, modeling, informing and educating staff and others at the Hospital in safe physical distancing ("social distancing" six feet or more), using electronic communications and internet-based group communications apps to hold meetings, practicing hand hygiene, and special infection control measures to prevent transmission of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Volunteer roles may include, as needed:

• Assist Hospital Administration sort, convey and communicate incoming CDC, DOH and other COVID-19 information
• Assist with written communication

Friends of the Library of Hawai'i (FLH) exists to promote and support the fifty public libraries that make up the Hawai'i State Public Library System. FLH promotes literacy, education, and library services. The organization supports librarians in continuing education opportunities and offers scholarships for graduate students at the University of Hawaii interested in a library career. FLH fundraises throughout the year through a number of book sales as well as a golf tournament. Volunteers are needed for events and for year-round sorting and pricing of books and media. The Humane Society Hawaii Island (HIHS) provides shelter, food, licensing, adoption and euthanasia services for animals picked up by HIHS humane officers or brought in by private owners. Offers certificate for spaying/neuterig animals three times a year. Recruits and trains volunteers to care for the animals, work in the office and represent the Humane Society at community events. Also accepts birds that the public drop off for West Nile testing.

Enforces laws, rules and regulations relating to the conservation and preservation of land and natural resources. Verifies leases, permits and licenses issued by the DLNR. Enforces laws relating to firearms, ammunition and dangerous weapons. Controls and manages beaches with public access. Participates with search and rescue efforts locally.

(Community Program) The Kupu Community Program integrates environmental education, workforce development, and academic support to promote youth empowerment and long-term career success. Participants begin with hands-on malama aina training, gaining experience in natural resource management, while also working toward educational goals like high school completion or GED/HiSET certification. Throughout the program, participants are introduced to an array of workforce development and job readiness opportunities. Kupu provides transitional employment opportunities by offering paid positions with our Kupu Culinary Program or other programs and partnerships.

Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs. Our network of 1,500+ pilots, as well as commercial airline partners, throughout the 13 western states donate their aircraft, piloting skills, and all flying costs to help families in need, enabling them to receive vital treatment that might otherwise be inaccessible because of financial, medical, or geographic limitations. Ambulatory patients needing medical transportation to the 13 Western States; Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming may be eligible. This includes inter-island transportation as well.

(PAT) Increase Your Keiki’s Opportunity for School Success! Program for families of prenatal moms, infants and toddlers called “Parents As Teachers,” or PAT - a home-based program for families that begins before your keiki is born until a keiki turns three. Through home visits, we support parents with practical, research-based strategies and activities to support the importance of enhancing school readiness during these critical and formative years of a keiki’s life. These strategies enhance parent child interactions, strengthen ohana relationships and support parents in being their keiki’s first and most influential teacher. Literacy is a major focus of PAT, books are used in every visit. The “Parents as Teachers” Foundational Curriculum is provided through supportive certified PAT parent educator’s home visits and screenings in assisting parents in understanding the latest neuroscience research and how it relates to their keiki. Provides financial assistance for educational and self esteem building activities for children in foster care. (MHAF) Program provides up to $60,000 of mortgage assistance and other related mortgage expenses to eligible homeowners.

Callers who meet the eligibility requirements are mailed the name of an ophthalmologist participating near their home. Participating physicians provide a comprehensive, medical eye exam and care for anything diagnosed at the initial visit for up to one year at no out-of-pocket cost for the physician's services. Eyeglasses, prescriptions, and hospital services are not covered under the program.
