Hele-on Bus Services

Provides island wide public transportation, including transportation for disabled individuals. The County of Hawai'i Mass Transit Agency also provides a Shared Ride Taxi Program in Hilo. The Hele-On bus system generally operates Monday through Saturday from 3:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., with limited service on Sundays and County observed holidays. When using the Hele-On Bus System, MTA suggests you wait at official bus stops and arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Displays one of only two humpback whale skeletons in the world, the Falls of Clyde, (the only surviving four-masted full-rigged ship and float in the world, and a National Historic Landmark), and the Polynesian voyaging canoe Hokule'a. Taking pictures, including flash and video, is permitted.
