Assistance Dogs of Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides children and adults with disabilities professionally trained dogs that will increase their independence and enhance the quality of their lives. We are committed to serving people in Hawaii with special needs through Community Outreach Programs and developing the potential dogs have to assist people in need through our Research Programs. (DCMP) The original Disaster Case Management Program (DCMP) connects survivors of the 2023 Maui wildfires with Disaster Case Managers (DCMs). Disaster Case Managers guide and navigate recovery support and services, help assess and address survivors' needs, identify decision-making priorities, develop a disaster recovery plan and connects survivors with referrals and resources to help. Provides psychosocial rehabilitative services which assist individuals to develop daily and community living skills. Teaches clients to set goals for themselves, learn problem solving, handle social relationships. Utilizes self-help group experiences and pre-vocational services including educational and recreational activities. (Hale O Ulu) Youth ages 6 years old - 23 years old who are a part of or are eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) are offered individual learning plans that help them to recapture school credits, and assist them in understanding their learning styles and challenges. Students and their families are offered counseling and other social services. This helps the student to address more than just their educational issues and have the support to be successful as they continue their education. Provides alternative secondary school for high risk or alienated youths, grades 7th to 12th, who have difficulty adjusting in a traditional school. Academic and clinical counseling are integrated. Goal is to return students to regular school.

Provides both escort service and home visitation. Escorts the frail elderly to doctors, hospitals, banks, pharmacy. Arranges home visits to assess needs, provide information and referrals that facilitate access to community resources.

Community-based Pregnancy Services provides counseling and supportive services to women experiencing a crisis due to an unplanned pregnancy and their families, with special attention to pregnant teens. Service assists clients to explore all their viable options concerning their pregnancy and to make informed decisions and plans for themselves and their child. Pregnancy Services provides community outreach in order to reach the women and teens in need of services, and assists them in accessing services, advocacy, information and other resources to meet their needs (such as WIC, Medicaid, AFDC.) Birth options counseling is provided if requested as well as planning and assistance through the process for the individual, partner and family.

Private school includes grades EC-12 for boys and girls.

Jewish Community Services of Hawaii provides case management, crisis intervention and referrals to resources. Services are provided through Zoom meetings, phone, and some home visiting. We have staff on Hawaii Island, Kauai, Maui, and Oahu.

(FFT, Functional Family Therapy) This evidence-based program works with at-risk youth and their families. Prevention and intervention services are family focused and emphasize the development of family members’ inner strengths and allows for greater self-sufficiency. Services are provided at in-home and community-based locations. This is a 3-6 month family therapy treatment system provided in a home/office setting for youth ages 11 years old -18 years old experiencing a wide range of externalizing behavior disorders (e.g. conduct, violence, drug abuse) along with family problems (e.g. family conflict, communication) and often with additional emotional problems (e.g. anxiety and depression). At least one adult/parental figure must be willing to assume long-term parenting role and participate with service providers for the duration of treatment.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households.
