(Hiilei Developmental Screening Program) -Hi'ilei Development Screening Program - a free resource for children birth to 5 years old. The Hi`ilei program provides developmental screens and information for families. -Development - children grow and develop throughout their life. Early skills include smiling for the first time, waving “bye bye”, and taking a first step. As they grow, children develop more skills as they play, learn, speak, socialize, and move. -Developmental Screening - a developmental screen is a simple set of questions about what a child can do. It helps families find out if their child is developing like other children of similar age.

Anti-Bullying Lunchtime Program provides schools with a positive activity for students to curb fighting and eliminate negative activities among students during lunch period. Low COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) course activities are utilized and students participate in sports theme activities. The low cope course activity is used for communication, cooperation, decision making, leadership and teamwork. This program is at the 4 elementary schools 3rd thru 5th grade level. The students participate 4 times a month for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Native Hawaiian homeowners (owner occupied) may receive up to $15,000. Native Hawaiian renters may receive up to $7,500. Assistance is limited to 1 award per address. The Golden West Chapter hosts a number of annual activities and Community Outreach events in Hawaii. These opportunities raise ALS awareness and funding that help provide valuable care management services to people living with ALS, free of charge, and promote public policy initiatives on behalf of the ALS community in Hawaii. All funds raised in Hawaii are re-invested in Hawaii.

Kokua Harvest is Hawaii Island’s food rescue project. We prevent food waste at its source, build community resilience and connection, and strengthen access to healthy, nutrient-dense fresh fruit and vegetables. We harvest and distribute excess produce to low-income communities throughout Hawaii Island. Through the act of rescuing and sharing food, we connect and nourish our community to build stronger relationships and a deeper appreciation for food. Food rescue (also known as “gleaning”) is the ancient tradition of collecting excess fresh food from farms, gardens, restaurants, or other sources and donating it to those in need. It is a successful model for reducing the waste of valuable produce, and it gives low-income individuals access to fresh and locally-grown foods that are not always available in their communities. Hawaii is fortunate to have a year-round growing season and a long cultural tradition of sharing and growing food. Still, every year thousands of pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables go to waste on farms large and small. Backyard fruit trees and excess garden produce also go unharvested. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.

You transport your foster to appointments and love him/her as your own! Fostering timeframe can vary from a minimum of 30 days to potentially a few months, depending on each individual circumstance.

Provides home care services to homebound patients: skilled nursing, occupational therapy, medical social services, home health aides, physical therapy and speech therapy. Offers intravenous therapy (i.e., fluids, antibiotics, nutritional fluids), wound care, teaching patient and/or family member appropriate skills to care for self or patient. The Maui Dance Council (MDC) was founded in 1978 and holds the mission to: Enliven the community and the classroom by inspiring, cultivating and supporting the artist in everyone. MDC cultivates the performing and creative arts in Maui County through: the Chance To Dance public school movement arts education program, professional development training for classroom teachers, community classes and Master workshops, and by advocating for the arts locally and nationally. Chance To Dance is a Standards based arts education program designed to stimulate the students’ imagination and original thinking through dance and music. By integrating dance and music with classroom curriculum, Chance To Dance helps children develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while self-expression and creativity are encouraged and fostered at a critical age.
