(Summer EBT) Summer EBT, also called SUN Bucks, is a new and permanent program to provide benefits to households with school-aged children to purchase food during the summer. Households will receive $177 for each qualifying child, to be spent during the summer months. Eligibility must be established annually. The SUN Bucks Program for Summer 2025 operating period will be from May 31, 2025 through August 3, 2025. When will SUN Bucks expire? Unused benefits expire 122 days after the date benefits are issued. Please use the benefit within that time frame. Once expired, the benefit cannot be reloaded. For children who automatically qualify, the SUN Bucks EBT card with the $177 benefit already loaded will be mailed out by FIS starting the week of May 19th via USPS. Lift HI Foundation offers tailored training-to-good job pathways, in partnership with local employers like Hawaii Pacific Health, that make it easy for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) households to participate. We proactively recruit applicants within communities, geographic or otherwise, with high levels of ALICE households. Our training timetable is a free, full-time training program. Two-fifths of our training focuses on skills such as goal-setting, culture, communication, and managing conflict among others. We currently provide “income replacement” (equivalent to the minimum wage). We partner with employers who are engaged actively throughout training who help with all or part of technical/clinical training, opportunities to visit and shadow in a clinical setting, pre-graduation job interviews, and preferred job consideration. We also contract former graduates to assist our graduates in navigating their new jobs and life.
