(McGruff Program, Take a bite out of Crime Program) Provides education, training, research, and coordination and monitoring of federal grants on the issues of crime prevention and system improvement to criminal justice agencies, the Legislature, and citizens to establish a safer and better informed community. Offers programs including the McGruff "Take a Bite Out of Crime" program, internet safety, and crime research and trend analysis. Coordinates and administers federal grants including the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant (criminal justice block grant for drugs and violent crime, available only to government agencies). Violence Against Women Act (grant for violence against women), and Victim of Crime Act (grant for victim assistance and compensation programs). Leads the Hawaii Sexual Assault Response and Training Program consisting of a multidisciplinary, multi-agency effort to assist sexual assault victims and hold offenders accountable.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Provides technical assistance to improve the quality of land and water resources on private and other non-federal lands. Cost-share and other incentive payments are available for farmers and ranchers. Recommends methods to conserve natural resources like soil and water. Provides financial assistance for emergency watershed protection measures. Works with local Soil and Water Conservation Districts on conservation plans and projects.

Audits, inspects and investigates production, distribution and adjustments related to milk quotas and licenses. Reviews and recommends adjustments of minimum prices paid to producers and production quota to assure a fair return on investment.

We are a self-help program. 24 hour help line for anyone seeking support for their alcohol use. We will assist with coordination of 12 step work (where one person who has arrested their drinking problem will work with someone who has a desire to stop drinking alcohol). We provide information about the over 300 local AA meetings on Oahu. Volunteers who answer the phones may share experiences with alcoholism and recovery with callers to provide support and encouragement.

(EEM, Rapid Response Landlord-Tenant Mediation) The Mediation Center of the Pacific helps landlords and tenants negotiate realistic payment plans and maintain a positive working relationship through video conference. Landlords and tenants work with an impartial mediator who will help them discuss a variety of options such as payment plans, temporary rent reductions, deferred payments, and other creative solutions that will enable the landlord to continue receiving some level of payment and enable the tenants to craft a realistic future for remaining in their rental. If landlord and tenant have flexible schedules, mediation sessions can be scheduled in 5 business days. All mediation sessions are held on Zoom.

Hawaii District Health Offices (DHO) serves the community with proficiencies in emergency preparedness, family health services, public health nursing, services for the developmentally delayed, environmental health services which includes vector control, clean air, clean water, and sanitation programs, vital statistics (births, marriages, deaths), and mental health services. Provides temporary assistance and information for residents of the Island of Hawaii who have tested positive for COVID-19 and cannot safely self-quarantine or self-isolate at home. Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. (Kauai Firth Circuit Court Self Help Center) The Kauai Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the Garden Island community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Kauai County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.

(West Hawaii Mayors Office) Issues disabled parking permits. Receives complaints and inquiries and directs them to the proper department or agency. Provides informational services for various projects and programs.
