(HI HELPS) Provides access to the enrollment process via smartphone, iPad, laptop, desktop, zoom call, standard phone call or referral to community health centers for walk-ins. Uses a needs assessment tool to determine appropriate health insurance option, including retiree/federal or veteran insurance as well as marketplace, medicare and medicaid solutions. Guides consumers through the healthcare.gov marketplace eligibility and application process using a direct enrollment pathway. The system reduces need for complicated identity verification modules and allows the enrollee or a marketplace assister select a plan and enroll in under 15 minutes. Reviews eligibility information and enrollment forms to help individuals who may qualify for medicare, medicare savings programs and/or medicaid programs. Refers individuals to appropriate state or federal agencies for issues that require investigation and follow up. Compares plan benefits, pricing, deductibles and services that are not covered. Uploads required documents to facilitate marketplace enrollments. Monitors enrollments for acceptance, premium payments and issuance of member identification cards. Assists with cancellation of the marketplace plan if no longer needed. Trains team of community certified application assisters and monitors annual recertification and credentials. Ensures all activities are compliant and meet federal and state regulations including protected health information mandates. Develops and distributes outreach materials to community health centers, food bank distribution locations, and other venues where the newly unemployed utilize resources available due to the pandemic. No face to face contact needed to enroll and those that qualify for Medicaid will be contacted by Medicaid with eligibility results and/or approval. Health premium subsidy based on household income. There is a 60 day window beginning the day coverage is lost to qualify for the special enrollment period.

Provides a safe and stimulating environment for the frail, elderly, and disabled adult. Provides social and related support services in a protective home setting during any part of the work day. The home environment will provide a pleasant, comfortable and safe surrounding for the elderly on a more personalized level outside of any institutional setting. (Our Kupuna, Hawaii VA Foundation) The program connects each low-income homebound kupuna with a sponsor (a community volunteer who shops for and delivers groceries, medication and necessary supplies to the kupuna's home every 2 weeks). The kupuna pays for the groceries that the volunteer delivers. The volunteer does not enter the kupuna's home. Inquire about other islands in the service area.

(Hiolani Care Center at Kahala Nui) Kahala Nui is a not-for-profit organization. Hi'olani Care Center at Kahala Nui provides compassionate, person-centered care through assisted living, memory support, and comprehensive nursing. Hi'olani provides thoughtful, gracious support for everyday living with quality, around-the clock medical care in an attractive island-style setting.

Provides technical knowledge and information to commercial fisheries and aquaculture farms to increase production methods, processing and resource management. Receives, evaluates and distributes harvest data of commercial fish resources. Experiments with fish habitat and provides prawn seedlings as authorized. Maintains statewide fish aggregating buoy system to attract pelagic species.

Perinatal support services provides case management services to women who receive their prenatal care at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) from the time they enter prenatal care until 3 months postpartum. Perinatal support services also offers prenatal classes to pregnant women and their partners in the Waianae community.

The Department of Water Supply is a semi-autonomous agency of the County of Hawaii that is governed by the Water Board. They provide domestic water service through its 23 water systems throughout Hawaii island. Call to start or stop water service and billing questions. Water bill payments can be made at the Kona office.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is incorporating a new evacuation notification platform, powered by Genasys, Inc, to enhance emergency operations for residents and visitors. The platform, known as Genasys Protect, will allow users to view evacuation zones, track live statuses, and receive real-time notifications through a mobile app. The Genasys system includes a zone map where users can see pre-determined evacuation zones, as well as live status updates during emergencies. The mobile app, available for both Apple and Android devices, will enable the public to follow their important zones and receive notifications specific to their zone.

McKinley Community School for Adults (MCSA) - Maui Campus provides adults with basic, remedial, and continuing education opportunities. Our programs include English Language Acquisition (ELA), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), Workforce Development Diploma (WDD), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, and DOE Support classes. We are an official GED and HiSET test center.
