(Easter Seals Hawaii Home and Community-Based Services, Easter Seals Hawaii Honolulu Services Center Adult Day Health Program) Adult Day Health (ADH) focuses on providing a small group environment that fosters growth, and challenges the adult participant to increase independence in a variety of community settings. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities. ADH participants have a full-range of activities to choose from including: the option to go on daily excursions, enjoy art programs, volunteer in the community, attend computer classes with the aid of assistive technology, learn money skills, participate in weekly hula classes or give back to the community through recycling programs. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Coordinates self-help housing projects consisting of 6 - 12 families in a building group. An experienced builder-foreman-teacher shows the group how to build. Saves about 25%-30% of the house cost. When 6 - 12 families build as a group, the houses are finished at the same time. Each family puts in the same number of hours of labor and builds the same house depending on family size. Uses "mass-construction" techniques. Takes 6 - 12 months to build the houses.

Provides support and supervision to adults 18 and older who are unable to remain at home alone. Provides two meals and two snacks daily, as well as both structured and informal activities for clients' enjoyment. Interaction with the keiki from the pre-school located on the same campus is offered through the Intergenerational Program. Offers field trips and numerous special entertainment activities throughout the year. Also offers assistance with personal care (using the restroom) for clients who may be incontinent or have physical limitations.
