Everyone under one roof can apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance. Typically, FEMA allows only one applicant per household or address to apply for Housing Assistance. If FEMA says you are ineligible for assistance because someone at your address has already applied, you can appeal. Tell us you need your own application. If you appeal, it won’t take help away from someone else. Ask FEMA for help when writing your appeal. Call or speak to FEMA as a Disaster Recovery Center. Send FEMA a signed letter explaining that your damaged home was your primary residence during the August 8, 2023 wildfires. Also explain that your application represents a separate household from the original applicant using the same address. Deadline to apply for the Maui wildfires has been extended to December 11, 2023. --Understanding your FEMA Letter-- Hawaii residents who registered for FEMA assistance for the wildfires that began sweeping across Maui August 8, 2023 will receive a determination letter from FEMA. In some cases, the letter may say you are ineligible for assistance. This is not a denial. It is important to read the letter carefully. It will include the amount of assistance FEMA may provide and information on how you can use your disaster assistance funds. The letter will also explain your application status and it will give you information about what to do to appeal FEMA’s decision. Your letter might also ask you to send additional information or supporting documentation for FEMA to continue reviewing your application. For example, you may be asked to send one or more of the following:

• Proof of insurance coverage
• Settlement of insurance claims or denial letter from insurance provider
• Proof of identity
• Proof of occupancy
• Proof of ownership
• Proof that the damaged property was the applicant’s primary residence at the time of the disaster.

If you are one of multiple families living in the same residence, each family within the household may be eligible for assistance. Your landlord will be required to provide a written statement or agreement that clearly says you had a lease agreement in place before the disaster. You can also provide old rent receipts, bank transactions or checks showing you paid rent to the landlord. These receipts must be dated within three months of the fires. In other words, they must be dated between May 8, 2023 and August 8, 2023. If you have questions about your FEMA determination letter, call the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362. Specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service such as Video Relay Service, captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service when you apply.

(Hawaii Childrens Discovery Center) Offers a "world-class" educational facility which provides families with a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow together. The center is filled with "state-of-the-art" hands-on, interactive exhibits which encourage visitors to learn through play. (ADAD) Plans, coordinates and implements statewide services relative to alcohol and drug abuse. Certifies substance abuse counselors and program administrators and accredits substance abuse programs. Agency does not provide direct services to the public but funds various private agencies.

(Chaplains Offices - Army) Provides religious services and sacraments, including worship, marriage, baptism and retreats; religious education and pastoral care, i.e., visitation, hospital confinement, counseling and more.

(Brethren of Christ International Preschool) Brethren of Christ International provides a daycare and preschool for children ages 2 years old - 5 years old.

Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service.

Operates 24-hour child abuse and neglect hotline. Receives all reports of child abuse or neglect. Provides case consultation and assessment. Provides crisis intervention on behalf of children in need of immediate protection.

Provides care for youth in a therapeutic family home with highly trained, Master's level supervised, carefully supported Professional Parents. Youth develop their strengths and skills, cope with trauma, and work toward their behavioral health goals. Youth and their bio-family develop individualized treatment goals within a treatment team to achieve healthy functioning toward reunification or self-sufficiency.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Person(s) wishing to take over an existing system through a franchise transfer must file an application with the division. Regulates rates for the basic service, associated equipment and installations.

Medicab provides a door to door transportation service for people who need assistance or need to be escorted, usually to a doctor or medical facility. Drivers are trained how to communicate and assist elderly and disabled people. The driver does not lift, carry or push anyone. Drivers do sign out customers from the hospital and assist (guide by hand) people in and out of the vehicle COVID-19 patients are asked to sit at the back seat with their masks on. The driver drives with the windows down for full ventilation.

(PSI Helpline) Provides a helpline for support and local referrals for postpartum mental health, along with online information and support groups to help families, providers, and communities learn about the emotional and mental health of childbearing families. Website helps locate specialized support coordinators. The helpline connects callers to crisis hotlines, support groups, and events in that area. Helpline runs 24/7, but is staffed only during business hours. Callers may leave confidential messages anytime and staff will return them as soon as possible.

Counseling services, (individual, family); group services, and limited financial assistance. With partners, through it's community building efforts, QLCC works toward the development of: healthy children, strong positive family attachment, stable home environment and caring communities.

Operates a comprehensive residential treatment program for chemically dependent adolescents with length of stay ranging from 28 days to 1 year. Requires family participation in the multi-family group on Sunday afternoon (Oahu families must attend all sessions, while neighbor island families attend a minimum of once per month).

Family conference and mediation service for families with an elderly family member. The elder family member (and caregiver) discuss their values and vision for the future with the family so they can create a family plan for long-term care and end of life decisions.

Provides consumer loans to assist Hawaii residents build credit, repair credit, pay off debt or address financial or housing emergencies. All borrowers receive individualized financial counseling. Hawaiian Community Assets does the financial counseling.

Primary Care health & social services including diagnoses & treatment of acute and chronic diseases. Provides physical exams and immunizations. Offers specialty care in internal medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatric/behavioral health, optometry, and dentistry. Provides midwife services from prenatal to delivery and postpartum. Provides health, education, outreach and case management. Provides WIC (Women, Infant, & Children) nutrition services. Provides flu vaccines. Also provides a Smoke-Free Families Program.

(TANF, Emergency Assistance Program - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) The Emergency Assistance Program provides individuals with families who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless with emergency financial assistance. The program may provide one-time support for first month’s rent, past-due rent/mortgage and utility bills, and utility deposits for electric, water, and gas.
