(IIH, Intensive in Home) This program provides mental health services for children/adolescents who have serious emotional and behavioral disorders. Program staff work with the family to stabilize and preserve their capacity to improve the youth’s functioning in the current living environment and to prevent the need for placement outside the home. Intensive In-Home Mental Health Treatment Services for children, youth, and families who require a higher level of care than office-based services, but who do not require residential or hospital level care.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (The Boo Boo Zoo) Provides treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured, sick, and orphaned animals. Rescues and cares for animals in distress. (Wendys Wonderful Kids - Adoption Services) Wendy’s Wonderful Kids offers proactive, child-focused recruitment of adoptive families for children who have been placed in long-term foster care. Sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation, this unique program provides intensive social work services to find the best adoptive home for a child by exploring all facets of the child’s family, school, and friendship circles, as well as recruiting families from the broader community. Goals: • Increase the number of foster children placed with loving, adoptive or guardianship families in Hawaii • Develop supportive and warm relationships with children waiting to be adopted/legal guardianship • Provide information and resources to prospective and adoptive/guardianship parents • Increase community awareness of foster care adoption • Streamline the adoption process • Improve the quality of life for children in the permanent care of the Hawaii • State Department of Human Services by providing a “forever” family in Hawaii

Family Finding utilizes database case mining and internet searches to identify and locate family and other possible relatives. Individuals who are identified as possible relatives are verified via phone contact and/or letters, and names of confirmed family members are compiled onto maternal and paternal family lists. These lists are then submitted to Child Welfare Services (CWS), the GAL, and the EPIC Ohana Conference coordinator or the Ohana Connections specialist to assist them in engaging relatives to help care for, provide support for, or reconnect to the child in care. (Food Bank) Hawaii Foodbank operates two AIB-certified warehouses on Oahu and Kauai where we receive, inspect, sort, store and distribute food to our communities. Food is sourced from manufacturers, growers, retailers, wholesalers, Feeding America, individual and corporate food drives and federal commodities where our staff and volunteers prepare these items for safe and efficient distribution through our partnership of more than 200 agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, domestic abuse shelters and rehabilitation centers. Food distribution is also through food pantries in local communities and the Ohana Produce Plus program, which provides fresh produce and assorted groceries to anyone in need while supplies last. (Ho`okele Case Management) HUGS provides case management for families with children that have life threating, chronic illnesses. Case management helps connects HUGS families to different community resources and agencies to provide a variety of services based on need. HUGS also provides financial assistance (emergency airfare) and non-perishable food to clients/families enrolled with HUGS.

The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped serves as the regional library and machine lending agency for the blind and physically disabled throughout the state and the outlying Pacific Islands in cooperation with the Library of Congress and the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicaped. BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) - Digital audio books and magazines are available for download from t he National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
