(Positive Youth Development, OYS) Services youth ages 10 years old to 21 years old who are engaging in or at-risk of engaging in behaviors such as drug use, delinquency, and/or unprotected sex which lead to teen pregnancy. The program focuses on youth who are in crisis, have no basic necessities or no support systems and are approaching adulthood. We address areas of social well-being, knowledge, reasoning and creativity, vocational preparation, and social responsibility. Program activities address the following areas: youth leadership; educational development; community service and service learning; mentoring and intergenerational support; performing/visual arts and humanities; sports, fitness and health; self awareness and interpersonal dynamics; as well as basic money management/budgeting and job readiness. Serves the low-income, underprivileged, disabled and the elderly by designing, administering and mobilizing programs and resources so that the underprivileged may gain confidence, knowledge and independence. Operates multi-programs under departments: Mediation, Group Homes, Elderly and Nutrition Services, and Homeless and Health services. Uses volunteers extensively in the elderly program. Also administers one time grants for persons in need.

(Hiilei Developmental Screening Program) -Hi'ilei Development Screening Program - a free resource for children birth to 5 years old. The Hi`ilei program provides developmental screens and information for families. -Development - children grow and develop throughout their life. Early skills include smiling for the first time, waving “bye bye”, and taking a first step. As they grow, children develop more skills as they play, learn, speak, socialize, and move. -Developmental Screening - a developmental screen is a simple set of questions about what a child can do. It helps families find out if their child is developing like other children of similar age.

(Beretania Park) Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

The Battleship Missouri has served her nation with honor and distinction through World War II, the Korean War, and Operation Desert Storm, with the service and devotion of her crews spanning three generations. Today she stands proudly as an international icon of strength for freedom and the site and symbol of the formal ending of World War II. We offer school groups the opportunity to learn more about the USS Missouri’s role in three wars and as a living, historic memorial. We are proud to serve more than 17,000 students from around Hawaii in Battleship Missouri Memorial Education programs every year. IGI (International Genealogical Index): A worldwide list of names and selected vital data of more than 150 million people. 3. Ancestral File: Is pedigree linked and can be grouped in families. 4. Social Security Death Index: Lists about 38 million deceased persons who had Social Security numbers and whose deaths were reported to that administration. 5. US Military Index: Index of individuals in the United States military who died, or were declared dead, in Korea or Vietnam (1950-1975). 6. Personal Ancestral File software available for Ancestral use on computers in library to make your own family record. 7. Hawaii delayed birth records index on computer. 8. Scottish Church Records.

The Department of Human Services (DHS) has received reports of fraudulent transactions statewide, but the reports are largely concentrated on the island of Oahu in the urban Honolulu area. What should I do if I suspect a fraudulent transaction has occurred with my EBT card? -DHS encourages all Financial or SNAP clients to be proactive and check their EBT account for unusual transactions. -Please visit the DHS Processing Center (PC) nearest to you to report any fraudulent transaction and to request a replacement card. A list of DHS Processing Centers statewide can be found online at: https://humanservices.hawaii.gov/blog/processing-centers-and-first-to-work-units/. Can DHS replace my benefits if they were stolen? -Clients who report lost benefits due to a fraudulent transaction must report the lost benefits to DHS and may request replacement of their SNAP benefit. -Congress passed a law in late 2022 to help SNAP participants who are victims of card skimming, cloning and other similar methods of activity. The law allows for the replacement of benefits stolen through these methods in limited circumstances. -More information about addressing stolen SNAP benefits is available at: https://fns.usda.gov/snap/stolen-benefits. Helpful Tips and Resources -Check your EBT account regularly for unauthorized changes. You may check EBT balances through one of three options: 1. Go to https://ebtEDGE.com 2. You may want to change your PIN at least one a month, prior to your benefit issuance date. -Know that you have the option to Freeze and Unfreeze your EBT card. When your EBT card is not in use, you can freeze your card and unfreeze your card when you need to use it again for purchases. -Block out-of-state and online transactions. Fraudulent transactions have been reported to occur with online and out-of-state transactions. You may block these types of purchase when you are not traveling out of state or not shopping online. -Beware of Phishing schemes. State agencies and EBT processors will never call or text you to ask for your PIN or card number. Be cautious when you receive these requests and do not share your personal information. (SFHV, Strong Families Home Visits) This program provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate professional and paraprofessional home visitation services to families with children ages birth to 3 years old. Program participants are referred by Child Welfare Services, Voluntary Case Management, or Family Strengthening Services programs. Service interventions reduce child abuse and neglect risks, increase family self-sufficiency, address family stressors, and improve child adjustment and achievement. Domestic Violence Services for Families offers a full spectrum of individual, group and family services to men, women and children to aid in the intervention and prevention of domestic violence in families and to strengthen child resilience and overall wellbeing. Service that are available include: -A Comprehensive Basic Assessment including a Trauma Assessment as needed -Risk Assessment -Crisis Management -Safety Planning -Development of a Comprehensive Service Plan -Individual, group and/or family counseling and support for each referred family member -Supervised visitation/exchanges and/or therapeutic visitation -Support Services and outreach which may include but are not limited to case management, resource linkages, domestic violence advocacy, temporary restraining order support, and in-home visits to educated about parenting and life skills

Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation offers assistance to for individuals experiencing financial hardships to help them keep their pets. This helps reduce the number of animals surrendered to shelters due to lack of resources and ensures that pets can stay with their families. Services include help with pet food, temporary foster care, etc.

Increases public awareness of the measures that can be taken to protect homes, businesses and property from the threat of fire. Includes information on faulty wiring and other electrical hazards, kitchen fires, smoking risks, child-related fire safety, flammable materials storage, brush clearance, fire retardant building materials and ground cover and other similar topics. Provides fire education and code enforcement. Issues special fireworks and public firework display permit. Also issues tent permits, portable extinguishers and systems permits, flammable finish permits, public assembly permits, and tank permits. Fireworks permits may be obtained from all Satellite City Halls for these holidays: New Year’s, Chinese New Year, and Independence Day (Fourth of July). For fireworks permits other than on the holidays listed, go to the Honolulu Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. Fireworks permits will not be issued at any fire station.

(Food Pantry) The Honolulu Fil-Am Seventh Day Adventist Church provides a food pantry for persons who have low-income or have no income. For food pantry help outside of the normal pantry hours please call for an appointment.

(MEO) Provides accessible transportation service for the youth, elderly, disabled, and general public of Maui County. Services include non-emergency medical transport, demand response, and specialized service to also include 'fee-for-service" operations.

Provides a fun and educational program for children and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. Promotes and encourages youth of all ages to participate in group and outdoor activities.

Funds projects that bring housing, community facilities, utilities and other services to rural areas. Provides technical assistance and financial backing for rural businesses and cooperatives.
