This CDC-recognized program is a year-long structured lifestyle change program that includes dietary coaching and moderate physical activity, all with the goal of preventing or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes among those who are at high risk for diabetes. The program consists of 16 core sessions over the course of the first six months, followed by less-intensive classes held monthly for the rest of the year-long program. The goal of the program is to cut one's risk of developing diabetes in half by losing 5-7% of their body weight through healthier eating and engaging in 150 minutes of physical activity each week. This program also includes shopping tours, cooking classes, exercise, on-site gardening, and stress management sessions.

(The Boo Boo Zoo) Provides treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured, sick, and orphaned animals. Rescues and cares for animals in distress. Average on site numbers 400 animals including dogs, cats, goats, sheep, cow, horses, deer, fowl, birds. Even if we aren't facilitated to intake an animal still call. We can help, advise or direct you to a source. Staff are all volunteers, donations are sole support.

Waikiki Community Center (WCC) programs focus on education, social and wellness activities for all adults, regardless of age. Meeting facilities are available for rent to non-profit groups. Wheelchair access to main entrance via ramps; Accessible washrooms; Designated parking spaces

Provides care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides education in women's and child health, chronic diseases, etc. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis cases and other communicable diseases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation services to private schools, day care, and residential care homes.

(Community-Based Mentoring Program) Case Managers at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii work with parents, guardians, therapists, counselors, schools, and youth serving organizations to identify and pair under-resourced youth from ages 6 years old and older with one-on-one mentors. Case Managers create an outcome development plan in collaboration with the parent/guardian, child and volunteer. Plans are updated yearly. Youth and their mentors meet 2-3 times per month for a few hours each outing. Outings are selected by the youth. Mentors pick-up their mentees and are responsible for transportation and other costs they incur. Some of the costs are offset by sponsored activities and discounts at partnering companies.

(RMHC Hawaii) Provides a home away from home for families of seriously or critically ill children receiving medical treatment in Honolulu hospitals. Provides affordable housing in an environment where families receive the support from the staff and other parents of seriously ill children.

Kumu Kahua means "Original stage" or "Platform". Kumu Kahua is a Playwright's Theatre in the State of Hawaii, providing the local community with 35 years of plays written by local playwrights for the community to attend. The 100 seater black box theatre performs five plays during its Season of Shows. Produces theatre oriented towards Hawaii's people, in their multi-ethnic diversity. Acts as a platform for local writers as well as hands-on operation for local actors, directors and theatre technicians. Offers classes in playwriting and acting. Accepts volunteers to assist with fundraising, box office, ushing, threatre technicians and phone duties.

Makaha Community Center is partnering with Waianae Assembly of God to collect donations of food, clothing, furniture, appliances, and household items to distribution to others. We also support local Department of Education school incentive programs in the Nanakuli-Waianae complex to help promote academics and attendance. The investigations office for Hawaii operates a hotline to report welfare fraud, people who have unreported income and other violations, for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and general assitance program. Callers does not have to give their name. All reports are investigated.

(Kupuna Program, Na Pua O Ko'olau Kupuna Program, Na Pua O Ko'olau Senior Citizens Program) Na Pua o Koolau promotes socialization, culture, exercise, and access to healthy foods through a variety of events and activities. Registered participants partake in fellowship, education and recreation through regular meal services, virtual and in person creative and fitness classes, off sit excursions, presentations, and work days.

McKinley Community School for Adults (MCSA) - Kauai Campus provides adults with basic, remedial, and continuing education opportunities. (McGruff Program, Take a bite out of Crime Program) Provides education, training, research, and coordination and monitoring of federal grants on the issues of crime prevention and system improvement to criminal justice agencies, the Legislature, and citizens to establish a safer and better informed community. Offers programs including the McGruff "Take a Bite Out of Crime" program, internet safety, and crime research and trend analysis. Coordinates and administers federal grants including the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant (criminal justice block grant for drugs and violent crime, available only to government agencies).
