Hospice Maui provides hospice care to maximize the comfort and dignity of those in their last months or weeks of life, in whatever setting they reside or in our Hospice Maui Hale. Unlike other forms of care that focus only on the patient’s physical needs, Hospice Maui also provides emotional and spiritual support for the patient and loved ones, as well as bereavement support for an entire year after the death.

Staff will be present at police interview if desired. Prevention education to schools and community also available. Assisting in helping those interested in running a child care business to becoming licensed by the State of Hawaii. Providing guidance regarding setting up a child care business. Providing free training on child development, nutrition, health and safety issues. Providing information about resources available to providers, such as the USDA Child Care Food Program that assists in paying for meals served in daycare. Referring parents who are looking for child care to licensed child care providers. Maintaining connections with child care providers, professional child care associations, and other child care professionals as well as helping others build those relationships in the community. Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) provides supportive services to meet the immediate and urgent needs of visitors to Hawaii Island who are victimized by crime, have medical emergencies, or suffer other adversities during their stay. Immediate needs may include assistance with canceling credit cards, providing emergency transportation, or garnering resources (soliciting donations) for food and lodging. VASH relies heavily on donations and community support. When needed resources are not readily available, we will make requests and network with other agencies to try and meet needs. A Critical Access Hospital with 24 hours, 7 days a week Emergency Department and 5 bed Acute unit as well as distinct part 66 bed Long Term Care and 9 bed Adult Acute Psychiatric unit. Provides outpatient rehabilitation services including treatment for back pain, sports and on-the-job injuries, stroke, and neuropathies. Other outpatient services include radiology and Specialty Clinics. Offers four spacious treatment booths and a hydrotherapy room. Specializes in MyoFacial Release techniques and designing Work-Hardening programs. Occupational therapy provides consultation for ADL (Activities of Daily Living) training and adaptive aids.

Compassion for Cancer Caregivers provides a 2-hour virtual session on creating a network of support for a cancer caregiver and/or patient. Topics Include: The Wall of Silence, Walking in Their Shoes, Actions Speak Louder Than Words, A Journey of 1,000 Miles Begins with a Single Step. Virtual and in-person meetings are offered. The site for in-person meetings are mutually determined.

Provides shelter for persons who are homeless and who are willing to abide by house rules (including, but not limited to: no drugs, no alcohol, no violence) for a maximum of six weeks. Stays up to six weeks include mandatory attendance at life skills training. Residence beyond six weeks includes vocational and educational referrals and assistance. Requires clients to be actively engaged in improving their situation with the goal of moving back into the community. Has 40 studio and 32 two-bedroom units with kitchen and bath; separate dormitories for single women and single men; day care center; primary care medical clinic, laundry facilities and common dining hall. Can accommodate 310 persons.

(HIHR) Provides Transitional Housing Program, Permanent Supportive Housing Program, Kitchen and Pantry Food Service Programs for the homeless. Provides assistance especially those with mental illnesses, substance abuse disorders, dual diagnosis, physical health and other disabilities, prioritizing the chronically homeless. Program helps achieve specific goals that includes but is not limited to obtaining and maintaining Transitional Housing, Supportive Permanent Housing and long-term Permanent Housing and will continue to provide Housing Services with Evidence-Based and Low-Barrier Service Models, as well as Coordinated Data Entry System utilizing (VI-SPDAT) and the Housing First Model Approached. Case Manager/Care Coordinator coordinates resources and community-based programs that helps with housing and other needs they may have. Maintains bi-weekly meetings to process and follow-up activities, conducts team meetings with providers including probation officers, mental health, substance abuse and medical.

Issues camping and use permits for state parks system. Plans, acquires, develops and maintains state park lands. Oahu State Parks include: Diamond Head State Monument, Hanauma Bay State Underwater Park, Heeia State Park, Iolani Palace State Monument, Kaena Point State Park, Kahana Valley State Park, Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area, Makapuu Point State Wayside, Malaekahana State Recreation Area, Nuuanu Pali State Wayside, Puu o Mahuka Heiau State Monument, Puu Ualakaa State Wayside, Royal Mausoleum State Monument, Sand Island State Recreation Area, Ulu Po Heiau State Monument, Waahila Ridge State Recreation Area, Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area. No state parks located on Lanai. Kakaako Waterfront Park is managed by Hawaii Community Development Authority. Sacred Falls State Park on Oahu remains closed since a rockslide in 1999. Penalty for entering a closed area.

Supportive group housing is provided on a less intense level with consumer support available 8-16 hours a day on-site and on-call.

(Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park) Administers a national historical park in South Kona. Offers an opportunity to experience Hawaiian way of life as it was in the late 1700's. Conducts tours of the grounds by advance arrangement, including fish ponds, Hawaiian house models, native plants and the Hale o Keawe Heiau. The heiau is a temple that has been rebuilt; the original temple housed the bones of 23 chiefs. Pu'uhonua means a place of refuge or sanctuary.

Provides food service to needy children. Supplies breakfast/lunch to many area schools. Feeds people through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program.

(Ola I Ka Hana Youth Program) Program for low-income at at-risk youth who are in or out of school. Help with building skills to obtain a High School Equivalency or GED, exploring post-secondary education, and employment exploration.

(AHED, AHED Foundation) Affordable Housing and Economic Development Foundation (AHED) functions primarily as a funding organization that secures affordable housing and economic opportunity grants, loans or other funding and partners with affordable housing developers and service providers to provide affordable housing and economic opportunities to residents in need. We work to create, develop, and preserve low-income housing. We also support programs that provide job training, childcare services, and economic development. We do this by securing private and public loans and grants to fund affordable housing development. We then partner with housing developers and service providers to provide affordable housing.

Offers classes and conducts special events to perpetuate and enhance the appreciation of the cultures and art of the island. Classes include: art, dance, hula, lauhala weaving, batik silk screening, stained glass, watercolor painting, etc. Co-sponsors the Steel Guitar Ho'olaulea, bonsai shows, Shakespeare in the Park programs, children's theatre, Dance Extravaganzas, Spring Arts Festival, and other programs and events of cultural enrichment.

Basic dental hygiene and other optional procedures are rendered based on clinical and professional judgment of students and faculty. Basic procedures include oral examination and charting, scaling and polishing of teeth, and patient education. Since this part of the dental hygiene curriculum is to provide teaching-learning experiences, the Department reserves the right to select patients and the type of procedures to be rendered; and to refuse individuals who do not meet the teaching criteria. It should be emphasized that full dental service is not available and service is limited to procedures in dental hygiene.

(Hale Ho'ola Hamakua) Operates 50-bed facility, which provides intermediate care nursing, skilled nursing, laboratory work, and x-rays. Provides acute care services.

Services focus on health promotion, health education, health care services and research. We provide disease prevention and control services, health screening, health advocacy, outreach, traditional healing, fitness and nutrition programs, tobacco cessation, health insurance application assistance, cancer navigation, primary medical care, and dental care.
