The Arc of Maui County has five Residential Group Homes for people with developmental disabilities. Each home has four to five residents with staff support 24 hours a day. Services include assistance with activities of daily living, recreational activities, and transportation.
Socialization and community integration are part of everyday life at the homes. Nursing services and medication assistance are available.
All of our homes are licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Health. Our homes are licensed as either Domiciliary or Intermediate Care and most are fully wheelchair accessible. The homes are located in Kahului, Kihei, Maunaloa, and Napili.

The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance.
A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. For a PDF of the paper application, visit the website and click on "SNAP (formerly Food Stamps)" from the menu "Benefit, Employment & Support Services (BESSD) SNAP, Financial, Child Care, General Assistance and more". The click on the link "If you are unable to apply online, you may download and print this paper form application – click here".

Volunteer Connections
(Our Kupuna, Hawaii VA Foundation) The program connects each low-income homebound kupuna with a sponsor (a community volunteer who shops for and delivers groceries, medication and necessary supplies to the kupuna's home every 2 weeks). The kupuna pays for the groceries that the volunteer delivers. The volunteer does not enter the kupuna's home.

American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii Foundation
Defends and protects the constitutional freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights and the Hawaii State Constitution. Consists of 3 major program areas:
Public Education: Coordinates volunteers. Provides speakers and materials to groups wanting to hear about civil liberties and handles special program events for the organization including forums, debates, speech tours, etc. Free publications of interest include the Police Contact Card, copies of the Bill of Rights, brochures about one's rights during a federal investigation and a right to protest.
Legal Program: Responds to any request for help sent in writing to the office. Depending on resources available, may investigate resolve or litigate complaints concerning the infringement of civil rights by government agencies. May also provide amicus briefs to cooperating attorneys. (Note they do NOT give legal advice or handle complaints against non-government employers or businesses, or civil matters like divorce or custody battles.)

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Temporary Assistance for Other Needy

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens.
The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households.
