(Easter Seals Hawaii Home and Community-Based Services, Easter Seals Hawaii Honolulu Services Center Adult Day Health Program) Adult Day Health (ADH) focuses on providing a small group environment that fosters growth, and challenges the adult participant to increase independence in a variety of community settings. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities. ADH participants have a full-range of activities to choose from including: the option to go on daily excursions, enjoy art programs, volunteer in the community, attend computer classes with the aid of assistive technology, learn money skills, participate in weekly hula classes or give back to the community through recycling programs. The purpose of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Volunteer at Hawaii State Hospital is to help the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital staff in its efforts to reduce spread of COVID-19 at the Hospital and in the community we serve. The volunteer will also help with efforts to inform staff, patients, family members of patients, and others in the Hospital's service community on how they can help reduce risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19. Volunteers will help by using, modeling, informing and educating staff and others at the Hospital in safe physical distancing ("social distancing" six feet or more), using electronic communications and internet-based group communications apps to hold meetings, practicing hand hygiene, and special infection control measures to prevent transmission of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Volunteer roles may include, as needed:

• Assist Hospital Administration sort, convey and communicate incoming CDC, DOH and other COVID-19 information
• Assist with written communication

The Department of Human Services (DHS) has received reports of fraudulent transactions statewide, but the reports are largely concentrated on the island of Oahu in the urban Honolulu area. What should I do if I suspect a fraudulent transaction has occurred with my EBT card? -DHS encourages all Financial or SNAP clients to be proactive and check their EBT account for unusual transactions. -Please visit the DHS Processing Center (PC) nearest to you to report any fraudulent transaction and to request a replacement card. Can DHS replace my benefits if they were stolen? -Clients who report lost benefits due to a fraudulent transaction must report the lost benefits to DHS and may request replacement of their SNAP benefit. -Congress passed a law in late 2022 to help SNAP participants who are victims of card skimming, cloning and other similar methods of activity. You may want to change your PIN at least one a month, prior to your benefit issuance date. -Know that you have the option to Freeze and Unfreeze your EBT card. When your EBT card is not in use, you can freeze your card and unfreeze your card when you need to use it again for purchases. -Block out-of-state and online transactions. Fraudulent transactions have been reported to occur with online and out-of-state transactions. You may block these types of purchase when you are not traveling out of state or not shopping online. -Beware of Phishing schemes. State agencies and EBT processors will never call or text you to ask for your PIN or card number. Be cautious when you receive these requests and do not share your personal information. The national Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) is a program of the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) administered by Vibrant Emotional Health (formerly the Mental Health Association of New York City) that offers 24/7 crisis counseling and emotional support to anyone in the US/territories experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to natural or human-caused disasters. Callers and texters are connected to trained counselors from a network of independently-operated crisis centers across the country. Services are available to people who are Deaf or hard of hearing via the DDH Videophone for American Sign Language (ASL) users. The DDH also offers peer support communities through private Facebook groups where people across the U.S. impacted by disasters can connect with others from similar backgrounds/experiences for mutual aid and support during recovery. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk.
