Hui Malama utilizes the desire and objective of obtaining a diploma through a public high school or the community school for adults not only as a necessary step in personal growth and skill building but also to establish a path for the at-risk youth to discover their individual potential for success. By providing positive examples, Hui Malama changes the poor habits and behaviors of the participant to establish a foundation upon which the youth may return to the public school setting or obtain their GED diploma and gain employment or related training. Today, Hui Malama transforms Maui’s at-risk youth into thriving community members with the ability to adapt, grow and excel in their personal and career journey. To do this, Hui Malama focuses on rebuilding the person – a “being” that can serve as the foundation for learning and doing the necessary things for an enriching life as a positive family, workplace and community contributor. Leadership Exploration Inspiration

(LEI) LEI is a HTA-sponsored workforce development project created by ClimbHI to inspire Hawai’i’s youth to select careers in the Hawai’i visitor industry by providing them with the necessary means to achieve success. From the student’s perspective, LEI represents an opportunity for Leadership, Exploration, and Inspiration, and from the hospitality industry’s perspective, LEI provides an opportunity to Lead, Expose, and Inspire Hawai’i’s youth. The program began in 2011 with 300 Hawai’i high school students spending a day learning about the hospitality industry and the value of graduating from high school and going on to pursue a post-secondary education. During the course of the day’s program, the students meet, learn, and experience job opportunities that the hospitality industry can provide. Students also receive advice on filling out job/college applications, resumes, personal finance, and support resources. Community Empowerment Resources - Intensive Outpatient Program

(IOP) The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is an intensive psychotherapeutic program designed to treat substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Services include group therapy, individual counseling, and toxicology testing. Sessions are often done as a group. Clients go home each night, rather than living at a treatment center. Clients attend IOP groups 3-5 days per week, for a total of 9-15 hours per week.
