Volunteer Legal’s pool of pro bono attorneys provide legal services in a wide range of civil matters, including divorces, paternities, custodies, child support, guardianships, adoptions, powers of attorney, wills, healthcare directives, landlord-tenant cases, collections, and Chapter 7 bankruptcies.
Neighborhood Advice and Counsel clinics are being held in-person and via telephone.
Clients are responsible for all legal deadlines associated with their case.

Maui Court Self Help Center

(Maui Second Circuit Self Help Center Hoapili Hale) The Maui Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Maui County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters.
Access by telephone for Molokai, Lanai and Hana residents only when the center is open. The Center does not accept voice messages.
Court Navigators for Lanaʻi, Maui, and Molokaʻi are now available by email
In 2018, an in-person Volunteer Court Navigator Program was established in the Second Circuit (Maui County). Volunteer Court Navigators assisted unrepresented individuals at Hoapili Hale by answering questions concerning court resources, locations, and procedures.
Note: Volunteer Court Navigators cannot provide legal advice or representation.
The Volunteer Court Navigator Program has expanded to include services by email. Unrepresented persons can now submit requests for information to:

The Navigators will make every effort to respond to requests for information pertaining to cases in the Second Circuit (Lanaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi) within one business day, although it may sometimes take longer to obtain the information necessary to respond to requests for information.

Tutu and Me

(Tutu and Me Traveling Preschool) Tutu and Me aims to identify, recruit, and service this undeserved segment of the Native Hawaiian population through an innovative traveling preschool program done in cooperation with churches and community organizations serving the Hawaiian and part-Hawaiian community. Tutu and Me aims to meet the developmental needs of these young children and to support the grandparents as well as parents and other primary caregivers who are raising them.
Teaching teams, comprised of early education educators, travel to pre-selected communities where they set up, conduct, and facilitate the program. The curriculum is organized around learning themes and cultural aspects, as well as those values that continue to influence the lives of native Hawaiian children, are also incorporated into the curriculum.

Animal Quarantine Branch

Governs the importation of dogs and cats into Hawaii. Operates the Animal Quarantine Station. Dogs and cats meeting specific pre and post arrival requirements may qualify for 5-day-or-less quarantine or direct release at Honolulu International Airport after inspection. Visit the website for the Department of Agriculture's Checklist for 5-Day-Or-Less Program for requirement or phone. Depending on a pet's rabies vaccination status, it takes between 4 1/2 to 7 months to prepare a pet to qualify for the 5-Day-or-Less program.
Dogs and cats not meeting all of the specific 5-Day-Or-Less program requirements are quarantined up to 120 days upon arrival in Hawaii.

Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA) offers referrals to 12-step recovery meetings for people who have a desire to recover from sexually compulsive or addictive behavior. Meetings are located all over the world with the majority being in North America. Meetings are held seven days a week at all times of the day. Meeting formats include face-to-face, telephone, and web-based options. SAA does NOT offer telephone counseling nor is it a “hotline.” Interested parties will be referred to a meeting in his/her area or to a telephone/web-based meeting for assistance.
