The Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) provides food to the needy on the island making food and products available to agency partner distributions sites. KIFB serves homeless, elderly, children and those experiencing temporary emergencies. KIFB also has a vocational rehabilitation program, operates Keiki Cafe and a Backpack Program as well as provides nutrition education assistance. KIFB makes referrals for food to the public (individuals needing food). Referrals are made to the 50 distribution sites throughout Kauai and specifically non-profit member agencies and churches on Kauai.

(WWWBWS) Hawaii Agricultural Foundation provides teacher workshops in partnership with the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) and are free for HIDOE members. Registration is required through Learnsoft (via the HIDOE dashboard). Unless otherwise noted, Learnsoft Learning Object ID and Instance details will be provided soon. Teacher trainings happen throughout the school year (once or twice a year). Dates for trainings are listed on our website and space is limited. Attending teachers receive the Where Would We Be Without Seeds curriculum along with classroom supplies. Those who implement the program with students are also eligible for a HAF-sponsored field trip to a local agricultural site. Where Would We Be Without Seeds is a standards-based curriculum that introduces elementary students to the fundamentals of agriculture through interactive lessons. Students explore how seeds grow into the foods we eat, why farmers are vital to our communities, and how agriculture sustains Hawaii’s future. By making the connection between the classroom and the land, the program inspires curiosity and respect for farming at an early age.

(Summer EBT) Summer EBT, also called SUN Bucks, is a new and permanent program to provide benefits to households with school-aged children to purchase food during the summer. Households will receive $177 for each qualifying child, to be spent during the summer months. Eligibility must be established annually. The SUN Bucks Program for Summer 2025 operating period will be from May 31, 2025 through August 3, 2025. When will SUN Bucks expire? Unused benefits expire 122 days after the date benefits are issued. Please use the benefit within that time frame. Once expired, the benefit cannot be reloaded. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the website for more information. For children who automatically qualify, the SUN Bucks EBT card with the $177 benefit already loaded will be mailed out by FIS starting the week of May 19th via USPS. Households should anticipate that it may take 1-2 weeks for delivery. Cards are sent to the mailing address based on the child’s school records, or the household's mailing address per their SNAP or TANF case if the household participates or has participated in those programs. If families believe we may have incorrect mailing information, if any children in your household were missing from their eligibility notification, or if you have any questions about the online application process, then they should contact the SUN Bucks Customer Service toll-free at (888) 975-7328.

Lift HI Foundation offers tailored training-to-good job pathways, in partnership with local employers like Hawaii Pacific Health, that make it easy for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) households to participate. We proactively recruit applicants within communities, geographic or otherwise, with high levels of ALICE households. Our training timetable is a free, full-time training program. Two-fifths of our training focuses on skills such as goal-setting, culture, communication, and managing conflict among others. We currently provide “income replacement” (equivalent to the minimum wage). We partner with employers who are engaged actively throughout training who help with all or part of technical/clinical training, opportunities to visit and shadow in a clinical setting, pre-graduation job interviews, and preferred job consideration. We also contract former graduates to assist our graduates in navigating their new jobs and life.

(Sexual Abuse Treatment Services) Provides comprehensive services for families and individuals who have experienced sexual abuse within the family. Services are provided to child and adult victims, non-offending partners, alleged juvenile and adult offenders, and siblings. Treatment is provided through individual, dyad, family therapy and an extensive group program. The various components of the program are designed to reinforce each other for more comprehensive treatment. Provides group counseling, individual counseling, mother-daughter counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling services for victims of incest, their siblings, non-offending parents, and offenders.

Whether supporting large-scale events at the Hookupu Center or preparing daily meals for the Kupu Community Program, Kupu provides participants with industry-aligned training that promotes youth empowerment, job readiness, and workforce development within Hawaii’s growing green economy. The Kupu Culinary Program has responded to disasters in the form of providing meals to those in need. In addition to technical culinary training, participants strengthen essential soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork, equipping them to transition successfully into long-term employment or further educational opportunities in the culinary or service industries.

(HVOAD, VOAD, Debris Cleanup, Mud Cleanup, Disaster Cleanup, December 2021 Flood, Crisis Clean Up) Crisis Cleanup is a national coordination platform that connects disaster survivors with local volunteer organizations who may provide: Debris removal, muck-out (flood cleanup), tree and yard clearing, and/or basic sanitation of impacted areas. This service is free, but signing up does not guarantee help. Help depends on volunteer availability and capacity. Priority is given to Kupuna (elderly individuals), people with disabilities or access/functional needs, and households with limited resources.
