The Computer Coding program utilizes the on-line Scratch application that was developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Lab. Students learn basic coding skills to create their own computer games. Students also learn the use of Adobe Photoshop to create logo designs for their games, animation, digital art and graphic designs. Robotics utilize the Scratch application and children learn to work as teams to create and maneuver their robots.

The Hawaii Fire Department is primarily responsible for fire protection and suppression, pre-hospital emergency medical services, land and sea search and rescue, hazardous materials response, ocean safety, and fire prevention and public education for the County of Hawaii. Provides permit applications for use of tents; to burn fireworks or Christmas trees; for application of flammable finishes; for liquified petroleum gas tank installation, storage and use; handling of flammable, combustible, toxic, corrosive and other hazardous gases, solids and liquid material; installation and maintenance of automatic, manual and other private fire alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment; maintenance regulation of fire escapes.

Westside Christian Center Assembly of God provides food once a month and also emergency food.

Makaha Community Center is accepting volunteers to help year round and in the post disaster period. Volunteers help with the collection and distribution of food, clothing, furniture, appliances, small appliances, cleaning supplies, etc. Times vary depending on volunteer hours. Three or four volunteers needed per day.

Founded by a group of people with OCD in 1986, the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) is an international not-for-profit organization made up of people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders, as well as their families, friends, professionals and others. The mission and goals of the IOCDF are to:

• Educate the public and professionals about OCD in order to raise awareness and improve the quality of treatment provided;
• Support research into the cause of, and effective treatments for, OCD and related disorders;
• Improve access to resources for those with OCD and their families;
• Advocate and lobby for the OCD community.

Provides information and referral on treatment or support groups for those with obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD). Publishes newsletter and other materials. Funds research and holds annual conference.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

The Maui Red Cross provides disaster response to those affected by disasters in Maui County and shares critical preparedness information to the community so that people can prepare before a disaster strikes. All disaster response and disaster training are provided at no charge. Training classes such as first aid and CPR are available for a fee. (HIPTRC, Hawaii Prevention Resource Center) The Hawaii Prevention and Treatment Resource Center (HIPTRC) houses the state’s most comprehensive resources on substance use prevention, treatment, and related issues available through its lending library, resource clearinghouse, and technical assistance services. Resources include books, brochures, infographics, posters, and other educational materials available for loan or for free distribution. The HIPTRC is open to the general public and provides consultation for service providers, school personnel, and others regarding access to educational resources, training, information, and available services.
