(Ready To Learn Program, RTL, R2L Program, Ready 2 Learn Program) Ready to Learn (RTL) is a statewide initiative that provides students in need from kindergarten through high school with a backpack filled with new pencils, pens, notebooks and other school supplies with an intended outcome of school readiness. Assistance is provided year round, but the primary period is the summer before each new school year. Application period for school supplies is from March-May, and the distribution of school supplies is in July. If you miss the application period, call the Community Clearinghouse at the number listed at the end of July to see if there are any school supplies left after the primary distribution is done.

Maintaining connections with child care providers, professional child care associations, and other child care professionals as well as helping others build those relationships in the community. Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) provides supportive services to meet the immediate and urgent needs of visitors to Hawaii Island who are victimized by crime, have medical emergencies, or suffer other adversities during their stay. Immediate needs may include assistance with canceling credit cards, providing emergency transportation, or garnering resources (soliciting donations) for food and lodging. (ATV, Alternatives to Violence) Professional counselors on call to help youth who are in psychiatric crisis or to supplement the efforts of their caregivers. Counselors can refer clients to specialized, short-term, out-of-home placement when needed. Youth Services groups are offered in both East and West Hawaii to both boys and girls ages 12 years old - 17 years old who are deemed perpetrators of harm. The focus of this group is to offer tools for reducing impulsive behaviors, improving self esteem and increasing the level of social competence as well as addressing the dynamics of adolescent victimization. The Youth Service groups are 20 weeks long and group is once per week; however, times and days of group may vary by location.

Provides technical assistance to plant materials centers. Identifies conservation needs and priorities. Scientists and researchers work closely with the state and federal agencies, commercial firms, and seed and nursery associations.

(ECS) The Nā Lima Hana Employment Core Services program provides employment preparation training, personalized case management services, tuition assistance for vocational training, and job placement for unemployed and underemployed individuals. (VET House) Shelter facilities provide guests with hot showers, daily meals (3 meals a day), storage lockers, mail service, and access to services that include case management, healthcare, employment, and housing assistance.

Provides after school program for Kindergarten through sixth grade students in public elementary schools who are without adult supervision after school. Program includes homework, recreation supervision, special classes and activities.

Na Hoaloha volunteers provides round-trip transportation for older adults or people with a disability for needed medical appointments, procedures, grocery shopping, or medications retrievals. Na Hoaloha provides help to those who are home bound and have no access to other forms of transportation. 10 day advanced notice requested.

(Healthy Families America Lana'i) Home Visiting program for families who are prenatal or have a newborn in Maui County. We provide a variety of support including resource information, parenting information, child development information and community connection. Virtual services are available.

Works to improve and maintain individual and community health. Addresses the following key areas: healthy community development (coalition development, community health organization, community strategic planning, facilitation, assisting grant writing, needs assessment, evaluation methodology in community health), risk reduction (includes tobacco prevention/education, physical activity promotion, chronic dieases, and injury prevention and control). Conducts community and professional education and training in public health education practices, methodology, and principles. Provides consultation and technical assistance in public health education. Provides specialized training in child passenger safety (certified technician and instructor).

Prevents and suppresses outbreaks of vector-borne diseases and serious vector nuisances through inspections, surveillance, monitoring, enforcement, consultation and education in the control of harmful vermin such as insects that bite or are a public nuisance such as ants, sand flies, and other insects. Also gives public advice on small animals and insects causing a problem in or near a home or building such as mice, roaches, flies, gnats, mites, rats, and nesting birds. Offers information and advice to individuals experiencing pest problems. Accepts birds that the public drops off for West Nile testing. They no longer spray for mosquitos.

(Friends of Mokuula) Friends of Moku'ula Inc. assists in historic preservation and restoration of culturally significant Native Hawaiian sites in the Waine'e Ahupua'a area of Lahaina moku, including Moku'ula, a sacred island buried under a ballpark, and Mokuhinia pond wetlands. Programs include: educational programs for community, historical and cultural tours for visitors, historic site restoration, archaeology, Hawaiian cultural training, historical archive research.

(WAP) Assists qualifying households to reduce utility costs by providing a variety of energy efficient measures--including LED light bulbs, ENERGY STAR appliances, solar water heaters, energy-efficient showerheads, faucets aerators, and more--free of charge.
