(Meal Delivery - Hawaii Meals on Wheels) Medical meal (diabetic, renal, chopped, pureed, etc.) delivery service to homebound kupuna. Meals are frozen or hot, as needed. Frozen meals delivered once a week to your home and is a week's worth of meals. Hot meals are daily during weekdays, including all holidays. Both hot and frozen programs offer medical meals. Helps frail elderly and disabled individuals preserve their independence at home by providing nutritious meals and regular personal contact. Clients will have to have limited mobility; not be able to meet certain criteria of daily living i.e. difficulty dressing themselves, unable to cook or shop on their own. For private pay and sponsored services, A Hawaii Meals on Wheels staff will check in with their physician on their health status.

(Act 278) Kauai Economic Opportunity has been contracted to administer the Eviction Mediation Pilot Program. This two-year pilot program requires early and free mediation between landlords and tenants before eviction for nonpayment of rent. The program runs February 5, 2026 - February 4, 2028. Tenants have 10 calendar days to respond to an eviction notice. If a tenant requests mediation in 10 day notice period, then the landlord must participate before filing for eviction. Administers and enforces standards of conduct provisions of the State Ethics Code, Chapter 84, Hawaii Revised Statues. Standards of conduct include provisions on conflicts of interests; gifts and reporting of gifts; fair treatment; confidential information; state contracts; and post employment. Administers and enforces financial disclosure requirements for state officials, employees, board and commission members, and candidates for state elective office. Administers and enforces the State Lobbyists Law, Chapter 97, Hawaii Revised Statutes. Lobbyists Law includes registration and reporting requirements for lobbyists and persons and organizations involved in lobbying the state legislative and executive branches.

Operation Search is the Department's campaign to find children who may need special education services but who are not receiving them at this time. Informs families of the learning potential of children with disabilities. Instructs families on how to obtain services from agencies. Informs parents about the early warning signs of disabilities.

Dreams help remind children in crisis that they are special and loved. Dream Imua, formerly A Keiki’s Dream, grants child-directed dreams to children 4-16 years old in crisis of any nature, such as abuse, neglect, homelessness or a major medical issues. This child-directed approach not only offers a reprieve from suffering, but validates the child’s self-worth, sending positive messages of support and encouragement, reminding the child what it is to have hope. This important program began in 1990 and became part of Imua Family Services in 2015. Over the last 30 years, the program has filled nearly 1,500 dreams from turning little girls into princesses and little boys into superheroes. The program offers children a chance to escape their difficult lives through helicopter rides, zip-lining, music lessons, horseback riding and more. Dream Imua relies on community support and involvement to help make these dreams a reality for those in need.

(COVID-19 Testing) Does not turn anyone away that wants to get tested for COVID-19. Priority is given to the Kalihi Palama Health Center (KPHC) existing clients, those that are sick and have COVID-19 sypmtoms as well as the KPHC staff. KPHC provides documentation for employer, individuals that need to get tested to provide documentation for their employer, etc. will be at the bottom of the priority list to get tested. If an individual provides a referral from their doctor, the COVID-19 test results will be forwarded to their doctor and their doctor will notify them.

(SSO) Department of Education Seamless Summer Option (SSO) Program provides meals free of charge at participating public schools for children 1 year old - 18 years old June 9, 2026 - July 17, 2026. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate. Schools will serve breakfast 7:15 am - 8:45 am and lunches from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. There will be no meal service on the June 11, 2026 (Kamehameha Day) and July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed) state holidays. All meals must be eaten on campus; no grab-and-go options are available. Children do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served, and meals will consist of solid foods. (Peoples Open Market Administration, POM) The administrative office of the People's Open Market (POM) helps persons interested in becoming vendors at the different People's Open Markets throughout Oahu. The People's Open Market is a low cost market where farmers sell fresh produce, baked goods, and fish directly to the public. Applies research findings to preserve natural marine habitats and animals. Provides public education, encourages community participation through lectures, school visits, natural history cruises, snorkeling trips and whale watching cruises. Offers internships for interested researchers who apply. Manages Adopt-a-Whale and Adopt-a-Spinner Dolphin program allowing interested citizens to receive information on the movements and developments of a specific whale. (Da Box) DA BOX is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. The Food Basket purchases Hawaii Island grown produce from our local farmers and resells to customers island-wide, keeping produce affordable and increasing small farm viability. DA BOX was created to both support local farmers and to provide affordable access to fresh, Hawaii Island grown produce. Each week of produce consists of a minimum of seven items, generally one to two fruits and five to six vegetables. The program website also provides free access to recipes, a "food for thought" community blog, and a "meet the farmers" section to introduce the community to the local farms and farmers, as well as a weekly newsletter.
