Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose, open pavilion building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

Funds and administers Food Stamp, National School Lunch, School Breakfast, Child and Adult Care Food, and Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children. Strives to improve the nutritional status of low-income children and adults. Responsible for authorizing retailers to accept food stamp benefits and coordinates educational efforts with authorized stores. Does not distribute food stamps or take applications.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

Call for food pantry help. Available on weekends as well. Deliveries to home are made on Thursday.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Promotes, develops and maintains apprenticeship and other work-based training programs. Educates and informs women about non-traditional employment opportunities and work-based training.

Provides adult education opportunities for people working towards high school diplomas (GED) and competency based diploma program. Offers classes in citizenship, languages, and special interests such as arts, crafts, sports and cooking.

Refers personal care attendants (PCAs) to disabled adults and frail elderly for in-home care and/or chores. Offers subsidies for PCA care fees only.

Jury trials are held in the Circuit Courts, which have general jurisdiction in civil and criminal cases. They also have exclusive jurisdiction in probate, guardianship and criminal felony cases, as well as civil cases where the contested amount exceeds $40,000. Circuit Courts share concurrent jurisdiction with District Courts in civil non-jury cases in which the amounts in controversy are between $10,000 and $40,000. Other cases heard by the Circuit Courts include mechanics' liens and misdemeanor violations transferred from the District Courts for jury trials.

Kokua Kalihi Valley (KKV) is a community organization with the mission for "healing and reconciliation in the Kalihi Valley community". KKV serves residents in Kalihi Valley a Medically Underserved Area and Health Personnel Shortage Area, as designated by the Public Health Service. Services include: dental, medical, family planning, WIC nutrition, behavioral health, elderly services, elderly exercise classes, youth development, case management, transportation, translation, case management and outreach, sewing program and Micronesian women's group.

Diagnoses and treats illness and injury. Operates hospital and outpatient clinics. Provides specialty care, non-emergency medical care, including physician services, laboratory and x-ray, occupational health services such as contracted pre-employment physical examinations, drug tests, worker's compensation care and immunizations for adults. Also provides flu vaccines when available. Doctors on Call Clinic is not an Emergency Department or urgent care.

Provides full medical and surgical emergency services. Does not provide obstetric, psychiatric or drug rehabilitation.

Provides temporary part-time employment and on-the-job training opportunities for Hawaii Island seniors 55 years of age or older who meet all program eligibility requirements. Services include job counseling/development, information and referral, and job placement in community service-oriented host agencies, which provide senior enrollees with current work experience, references, and new skills. Designed to assist the senior enrollees to make the transition from federally subsidized jobs back into the main workforce.

Regulates utility and transportation companies. Receives and investigates complaints regarding services provided by the regulated entities.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Silvercrest Senior Housing is an affordable senior housing program for seniors 62 years old or older. The housing facility is located in Central Oahu and provides a supportive living environment that is sensitive to the needs of individual residents. Call for application information, other eligibility requirements, and income restrictions. The current waitlist time is about 2.5 - 3 years.

Designs and maintains traffic signals on county roads. Maintains timing of lights or vehicular traffic and pedestrian crossings.

Provides social casework, pre-sentence investigation, and supervision of adults convicted of misdemeanor offenses and traffic violations. Assists Court in using sentencing power to rehabilitate individuals. All clients are Court ordered for misdemeanor offenses for pre-sentence reports or on supervision for maximum of one year for each case referred. Referral for mental health, drug and alcohol assessment and follow up treatment. Restitution study for victims of crimes and collection of monies may be ordered by the Judge. Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service. Voter registration forms also available.

Provides primary health care including medical and psychiatric services for eligible veterans with stable, chronic health problems or minor acute illness. Provides social services, case management services, and information and referral to appropriate resources.

Supportive group housing is provided on a less intense level with consumer support available 8-16 hours a day on-site and on-call.
