(Moku Loa Group) Monitors activities and development on the Big Island for impacts on the environment, water/air quality, pollution, native species, and human health. Works to preserve and protect native species and natural resources, especially native rainforest, native bird and plant habitats, marine and costal areas. Presents monthly programs to inform and educate. Certified hike leaders provide outings for enjoyment and education. Sponsors service trips to maintain trails or protect unique resources.

(HI-EMA, SCD, State Civil Defense Division) State of Hawaii Department of Defense's Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) activates public warning and instructions in emergencies. HI-EMA coordinates with county civil defense agencies integrated plans for all hazards, disaster response and recovery. HI-EMA provides community education on hazard awareness, and disaster preparedness, and conducts professional training programs.

(Emergency Food Pantry) Eleele Baptist Church distributes bags of food to those that are in need on a first come, first served basis. You must call first and leave a clear message with a name and a call back phone number for emergency food. (Hoala Hou - High Risk Reduction) Provides prevention services to youth ages 10-17. Department staff utilizes Best Practice or Evidence Based prevention curriculums to educate youths and parents on the dangers of substance abuse/use. We continue to provide on-going substance free activities at various schools statewide and partner with other local agencies.
