(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (NDR, March 2021 Flood) Nazarene Disaster Response (NDR) is a volunteer service responding to victims of natural and human-made disasters. It serves them regardless of race, creed, or economic status by concentrating on assistance to the poor, elderly, and handicapped, providing cleanup and restoration assistance for relief and reconstruction, enabling disaster victims to resume a normal life pattern.
