The Friends' mission is to generate community support for cancer research and education to prevent and reduce cancer-related deaths as well as improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with cancer. The Friends organization was established to support the Cancer Center in their quest to prevent and find cures for cancer in Hawaii. This includes the Center’s education and outreach programs for those battling cancer, and family and friends who care or are caregivers. The Friends respond to and fulfill the UH Cancer Center's need for private funds to supplement federal and state resources by coordinating fundraising events and conducting an annual friendship drive to give people like you the opportunity to play a vital role in the fight against cancer. (H-HEAP, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program - Energy Crisis Intervention, LIHEAP ECI, ECI, Energy Crisis Intervention) Assists households who are at the verge of getting their electricity or utility terminated or if their electricity or utility has been terminated. Applicants may apply, once per program year for one of the two types of credit: Energy Credit (EC) or Emergency Crisis Intervention (ECI). Energy Crisis program assists with up to $650 to restore power to the residence of a household whose electricity or gas has been shut off or is about to be terminated.

The Computer Coding program utilizes the on-line Scratch application that was developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Lab. Students learn basic coding skills to create their own computer games. Students also learn the use of Adobe Photoshop to create logo designs for their games, animation, digital art and graphic designs. Robotics utilize the Scratch application and children learn to work as teams to create and maneuver their robots.
