Enforces the State Wage and Hour Law, Wages and Hours of Employees on Public Works Law, Payment of Wages and Other Compensation Law, Child Labor Law, and Hawaii Family Leave Law. Administers statewide program of labor law enforcement involving compliance investigations of minimum wage, overtime, and payroll records, prevailing wage and overtime for laborers performing work on State and County public works construction projects, illegal deduction, late pay, and pay statement violations. Administers program for hearings related to unlawful suspension or discharge due to work injury or garnishment. Investigates unlawful practices relating to lie detector tests. Enforces Hawaii child labor law relating to employment of minors under 18 years of age. Provides information on obtaining work permits.

The Taxpayers Voice for a safe and beautiful community. The West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 to provide an organized voice of support for public and private improvements which have potential benefit for the West Maui community from Lahaina to Kapalua. WMTA was founded to assure that West Maui would receive its fair share of tax-funded improvements by state and county governments. WMTA has been at work on these improvements for over 40 years. Represents taxpayers' interests to the government. Welcomes individual and business members and inquiries from the general public. Schedules public education forums dealing with issues and proposed laws to advance responsible action.

Administers programs to control agricultural pests such as insects, mites, snails, slugs and weeds through the use of natural enemies. Detects and identifies insect pests to agriculture, such as fruit flies, caterpillars, leaf miners, beetles and other plant insect pests.

(Family Visitation Center - Oahu) Family Visitation Centers provide a safe, neutral setting for children to visit with their non-custodial parents or transition from one parent to the other. After a divorce or separation, family visitation services may be arranged by agreement of both parents and by court order.

Provides care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides education in women and child health, chronic diseases, etc. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation to private schools, day care, and residential care homes.

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Nourishing supplemental foods: Checks to buy healthy foods such as: Milk, Peanut butter, Fruits and vegetables, Canned tuna or salmon, Juice, Whole grain breads, tortillas, Eggs or brown rice, Cheese, Baby foods, Cereal Infant formula, Dry beans or peas, Tofu, and soy milk Health and social service referrals: Help in finding health care and other community services.

Advises, explains procedures, and orients victims/witnesses to criminal justice system. Accompanies client to court. Provides information on cases. Promotes public awareness of victim/witness concerns. Assists victims with restitution, compensation and referral to community agencies if applicable.

(Adult Program, Adult Group Homes - Hale Kukunaokala) Hale Naau Pono provides group homes for persons with serious mental illness. Group homes provide shared, safe, homelike environments where adults are assited with developing and maintaining skills of independent living (managing personal finances, daily living skills, social skills, medication adherence, compliance with medical, behavioral and legal orders, and coordinating services with the various providers on the team to support client success). Program Participants are assigned to a single or shared room (limit 2 beds per room). Houses are between 4 and 7 bedrooms and 5 to 8 beds. Program fees include room, electricity, water, internet, phone and basic cable and shared supplies like toilet paper, laundry detergent, hand soap, cleaning supplies. Homes are fully furnished and participants are expected to purchase their own food, medications, personal hygiene. Participants will work with program staff to establish personal goals, attend structured rehabilitation, education or work programs during the weekdays and perform common household chores.

(Employment and Training Program) Provides skills training, job readiness training, job placement, education/training support, and case management services.

Our Honolulu site was opened in 1996 and is located on the 1st floor of the Prince Kuhio Federal Building. Rainbow School Honolulu has an Infant/Toddler program which is licensed for 15 infants and toddlers. Our Preschool program is licensed for 75 children ages 2-5 years old. Rainbow School, Inc. in Agreement with the US General Services Administration, provides childcare services to Federal employees who are given priority and the general public. We are licensed by the State of Hawaii and all staff meet State licensing requirements. We accept DHS – Child Care Connection, Open Door, First-to-Work, Kamehameha Schools’ Keiki Pauahi Scholars Program, and Federal subsidies. All tuition payments are done through the FACTS Tuition Management program. Your child’s Form 14, current TB clearance and DHS 908 Form are required upon acceptance into the school. Parents are also responsible for a non-refundable registration fee of $175 upon acceptance. If there are no availabilities, your child’s application will be placed on the center’s waitlist. We also: Educate teens and parents about alcohol and the problems associated with underage drinking, Conduct public awareness programs like Tie One On for Safety which asks drivers to tie a MADD red ribbon onto their vehicles to pledge to be a safe and non-drinking driver over the holidays, Gather once a year to raise funds at our Walk Like MADD event that remembers, inspires and commits with our community of victims, survivors, partners and supporters.
