The Academy for Healthcare Innovation (AHI) Surgical Technologist Program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing you to play a critical role in ensuring patient safety and the success of surgical procedures. You will be an essential part of the surgical team with in-depth training in surgical procedures, techniques for maintaining a sterile environment and the intricacies of surgery. You will also learn infection prevention protocols, ensuring the smooth operation of surgical departments and contributing to the highest standards of patient care. During the 40 week program, you will learn how to: -Prepare the operating room environment, ensuring a sterile field for surgical procedures -Handle surgical instruments -Assist surgeons during operations -Anticipate the needs of the surgical team

(PATCH POD Program) The Preschool Open Doors (POD) program provides families with low and moderate incomes subsidies to send their children to preschool for up to two years prior to entering kindergarten.

Provides probate for real property under $100,000 with or without a will. Establishes guardianship for minors or incompetents where the protected person's assets do not exceed $10,000.

Maintains collection of information resources, literary, musical and artistic materials. Makes available to the community on a loan basis or as a special collection for research.

(Hotels for Heroes) Maintains a professional organization of hotel, resort and related industries. Collaborates with community resources to produce results and improved solutions serving the community. Communicates, promotes and funds educational curriculum related to the industry. Initiates member education to implement water conservation, recycling programs and other identified objectives. Promotes and advocates for legislation beneficial to members and the community they serve. Organizes annual charity walk and distributes proceeds to Hawaii County service organizations.

The Red Cross provides disaster response to those affected by disasters in East Hawaii County and shares critical preparedness information to the community so that people can prepare before a disaster strikes. All disaster response and disaster training are provided at no charge. Training classes such as first aid, CPR and Lifeguarding are available for a fee. Conducts recreational programs for park and community organizations. Provides camping permits.

Maintains official inventory of state lands and acquires land for public purposes including schools, parks, airports, libraries. Land not set aside for public purposes is auctioned for sale, lease or month-to-month tenancies. Refers survey and boundary questions to Department of Accounting and General Services Survey Division. Issues permits for beach weddings on state land.

Assesses client information and circumstances to determine need and/or eligibility for services and benefits. Provides burial assistance benefits including burial, burial allowance, plot or interment allowance, headstone or grave marker, burial flags, presidential memorial certificate, dependency and indemnity compensation and other benefits. Provides escort services including accompanying and personally assisting a client to obtain service. Provides letter writing, letter reading, records repository, notary public, recordation of forms. Will file original documents, specifically DD-214s or equivalent for clients.

Holds jury trials and has general jurisdiction in Civil and Criminal cases. Has exclusive jurisdiction in Probate, Guardianship, and Criminal felony cases, as well as Civil cases where the contested amount exceeds $20,000. Shares concurrent jurisdiction with the District Court in Civil non-jury cases that specify amounts between $10,000 - 20,000. Conducts a drug court program, in which defendants are placed in drug rehabilitation programs instead of prison. (Kula) --Referrals through the Hawaii CARES line-- Community Empowerment Resources’ Maui Crisis Stabilization Center is an around-the-clock crisis stabilization facility designed for individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, or psychological crises. Our primary goal is to effectively resolve the crisis and help clients regain stability. We offer a secure and therapeutic environment for adults aged 18 years old or older, providing support for up to 14 days.

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. (Strong Families Home Visiting Oahu) This program provides comprehensive and culturally appropriate professional and paraprofessional home visitation services to families with children ages birth to 3 years old. Program participants are referred by Child Welfare Services, Voluntary Case Management, or Family Strengthening Services programs. Service interventions reduce child abuse and neglect risks, increase family self-sufficiency, address family stressors, and improve child adjustment and achievement. Provides comprehensive home visitation, child development screening and intervention, as well as psychosocial assessment, and motivational treatment readiness services to Child Welfare Services (CWS) and CWS Diversion clients. The intensity of the program varies over the course of service, starting with weekly home visits, and reducing the frequency as the family and child meet their goals. Services include a a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and Registered Nurse.

Provides new free art exhibits every month, rehearsals and performances in the 100 seat Theater, Festivals, Art Classes, Art projects, demonstrations, workshops, meetings, monthly newsletter and more.

Provides administrative oversight and professional support to Hawaii State Hospital and a full range of community-based mental health programs. Provides administrative oversight to Purchase of Service contract which provide a wide array of adjunct services to the target population.

Our Writing Retreat is not exactly a class but is an opportunity to meet and write in company with other beginning and experienced writers. Here we tap into our mutual creative energy. After introductions, we collect ideas in response to a starter prompt, then each person begins to draft a story, poem, memoir, argument or whatever. In small groups we read these diverse pieces and give each other non-critical reader responses.

The Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center works to educate the community on how to prevent overdose, recognize the signs of overdose, and treat someone experiencing an overdose. The medication Naloxone has proven to stop the effects of opioid overdose and save lives, and is legal to carry in the state of Hawaii. Our naloxone program is free and anonymous, and available on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii Island.

(Adult Program, Adult Group Homes - Hale Kukunaokala) Hale Naau Pono provides group homes for persons with serious mental illness. Group homes provide shared, safe, homelike environments where adults are assited with developing and maintaining skills of independent living (managing personal finances, daily living skills, social skills, medication adherence, compliance with medical, behavioral and legal orders, and coordinating services with the various providers on the team to support client success). Program Participants are assigned to a single or shared room (limit 2 beds per room). Houses are between 4 and 7 bedrooms and 5 to 8 beds. Program fees include room, electricity, water, internet, phone and basic cable and shared supplies like toilet paper, laundry detergent, hand soap, cleaning supplies. Homes are fully furnished and participants are expected to purchase their own food, medications, personal hygiene. Participants will work with program staff to establish personal goals, attend structured rehabilitation, education or work programs during the weekdays and perform common household chores.
