Ridesharing programs offer the least expensive way to reduce rush hour traffic congestion by moving more people in fewer cars. To encourage ridesharing, HDOT provides High Occupancy Vehicles Lanes (HOV) and Zipper Lanes which are reserved for the exclusive use of buses, carpools, and motorcycles.

Provides a rural residential setting providing an Adult Day program for those with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities. Emphasizes social community setting with farm work, crafts and recreational activities to enhance life skills and well-being.

(Domestic Violence Services for Families) When child abuse occurs in the home, violent behavior towards spouses and others is also often present. After a family is required to enter the child welfare system and is discovered to be experiencing other forms of domestic violence a care plan is developed for each family member. Services are then provided for both survivors (victims) and batterers (perpetrators) of violent behavior. Survivors create a safety plan and are offered various supportive services. Batterers are assessed and provided opportunities to learn alternative attitudes and behaviors. This program works with families involved in the child welfare system who are also experiencing domestic violence. Staff work with each family to assess for domestic violence and/or risk factors related to domestic violence. A care plan is developed for each family member. The services that are available for each family include: Domestic Violence Survivor Support and Pattern Changing Groups for Victims, Individual Counseling and Support for each family member, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focusing on children, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Children’s Support Groups, and/or Adolescent Support Groups.

Provides care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides education in women and child health, chronic diseases, etc. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation services to private schools, day care, and residential care homes.

Monitors environmental quality (air, water, food products, etc.).

Lifeline Program offers discounted cell phones for the low income individuals.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Maui operates a drop-in service facility for youth ages 6 years old to 18 years old, if enrolled in high school Programs and activities include: character and leadership; healthy lifestyles; sports, fitness, and recreation; education; and workforce development.

Raises funds for qualifying 501(c)(3) health and human service agencies on the Big Island. Currently funding 41 programs delivered by 32 agencies. Provides/posts program results for agencies receiving funding. The Hawaii Island United Way offers networking opportunities through community building programs, promoting agency collaboration in the spirit of aloha. The Hawaii Island United Way (HIUW) funds specific programs - developed and delivered by agencies with long standing records of success. (Alaka'i Na Keiki) Alakai Na Keiki provides children, youth and adults with psychological and substance abuse assessments, sex abuse, mental health and substance abuse treatment as well as individual and group therapy.

(VASH, Travelers Aid of Honolulu) The mission of Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) is to share Aloha with visitors who have been victims of a crime or other adversities, and to provide follow-up assistance and support in an effort to create a positive memory of their stay in our islands. The type of assistance provided varies on a case by case basis. Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii offers assistance and support through information and referrals, emergency ground transportation, and resources for meals and lodging. Assistance is also provided with changes to travel plans and for emotional support. We do not pay for airline tickets, hotel stays, medical or dental expenses, and funeral expenses.

McKinley Community School for Adults - McKinley Campus provides adults with basic, remedial, and continuing education opportunities. Our programs include English Language Acquisition (ELA), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, and general interest classes. We are an official GED and HiSET test center.

(Family Visitation Center - Oahu) Family Visitation Centers provide a safe, neutral setting for children to visit with their non-custodial parents or transition from one parent to the other. After a divorce or separation, family visitation services may be arranged by agreement of both parents and by court order.

Individual, marriage/family, group counseling for deployment-related readjustment issues. VA benefits explanation and referral. Screening and referral to VA medical services for issues such as traumatic brain injury, substance abuse. Information and referral for community resources.

The Family Court hears legal matters involving children; domestic relations cases including divorce, child support, paternity, custody matters; domestic violence cases including civil restraining orders involving family members; civil commitment cases, guardianships of adults, and adult abuse cases.

Provides job search and placement services including assessment counseling, and referrals. Provides labor and market information. Cooperates with agencies involved with federal and state job training programs. Refers clients to job training programs. Provides resume and job search preparation workshops.

(Ka'u Hospital) Operates acute and SN/IC (Skilled Nursing/Intermediate Care) nursing facility and other medical services. Provides laboratory services and diagnostic imaging services. Operates a 24-hour emergency room.

(CARE Program) Provides comprehensive, coordinated and compassionate forensic health services to children who are victims and suspected victims of abuse and neglect.

(MEO, MEO Core 4 Business Planning Class) Offers a 30-hour course that helps individuals analyze business opportunity and plan success. The course guides individuals in the development of a realistic, achievable plan for a business. It is helpful for prospective entrepreneurs as well as existing small business owners.

Provides primary health care including medical and psychiatric services for eligible veterans with stable, chronic health problems or minor acute illness. Provides social services, case management services, and information and referral to appropriate resources.
