The Respite Companion Program (RCP) is an employment and training program established by the department which provides part-time community service employment opportunities as Respite Companions for low-income, able-bodied adults age 55 years and older, who assist families provide care for the frail elderly in homes, in adult day care or adult day health centers. RCP is administered by the Department of Human Services, Social Services Division, Adult Protective & Community Services Branch. (Act 278) Kauai Economic Opportunity has been contracted to administer the Eviction Mediation Pilot Program. This two-year pilot program requires early and free mediation between landlords and tenants before eviction for nonpayment of rent. The program runs February 5, 2026 - February 4, 2028. Tenants have 10 calendar days to respond to an eviction notice. If a tenant requests mediation in 10 day notice period, then the landlord must participate before filing for eviction. A Cup of Cold Water is an outreach care van ministry of the Episcopal Churches on Maui and Community Friends delivering basic needs of water, nutrition, clothing and comfort to the neediest of Maui's people. Weekly runs are made to the homeless in Central, West and South Maui on days and times when they are not serviced by others. A Cup of Cold Water Care is an all volunteer outreach and all donations go directly to meeting the basic needs (plus a lot of comfort) of the homeless clients served. A Cup of Cold Water does not help with housing.

Hawaii Agricultural Foundation provides teacher trainings. Teacher trainings for Veggie U are island specific trainings with 1-2 trainings per year. Veggie U is a hands-on science program that empowers students to become growers in their own classrooms. Using a classroom garden kit, students plant, care for, and harvest vegetables while learning about nutrition, sustainability, and healthy eating. The program deepens appreciation for local food, encourages healthier lifestyles, and connects youth to the importance of agriculture in everyday life. Quarterly virtual check-ins provide teachers with timely updates, opportunities to discuss topics of interest, and a space to collaborate and share classroom experiences with fellow educators.

Pacific Birth Collective (PBC) is offering free weekly food boxes designed specifically for the perinatal period, with focus on providing nutrition and health support for mothers and their growing babies. This program is in conjunction with the Maui Food Bank and is free and accessible to everyone. The items in our food boxes are curated for children and women during their childbearing years. Please fill out this form to receive food distributions. The form will be open every week Saturday-Wednesday or until we have 50 recipients, then the form will close. Boxes need to be picked on Friday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Aloha Aina Center Suite 160 in Haiku. Delivery of boxes may be available upon request.
