The Patsy T. Mink Center for Business & Leadership (MCBL) was established by YWCA O‘ahu, the U.S. Small Business Administration and a community of partners to become the only Women’s Business Center (WBC) in Hawai‘i. WBCs are designed to assist women in starting and growing small businesses, and seek to “level the playing field” for women entrepreneurs who still face unique obstacles in the business world. MCBL is named in honor of Patsy T. Mink for her dedication to helping women through legislative reforms. She was a transformative leader and a national voice for gender equality, education, peace, and so much more. MCBL's mission is to equip women to become successful entrepreneurs and leaders by providing one-on-one business counseling, innovative workshops and unique, specialized programs in a nurturing environment.

Offers tutoring, reading, and math workshops, computer lab, game room and playground activities, snack and appropriate movies.

Conducts forestry research in Hawaii and Pacific Basin islands. Studies ecosystem restoration, species trials and agroforestry studies. Awards grants for urban and community forestry, forest stewardship of private lands, rural development, natural resources conservation education, etc. Makes cost-share payments and subgrants to non-profit groups and private landowners or lessees.

Basically the same as Alcoholics Anonymous' 12 step program. We substitute food for alcohol. We are a free walk-in program for people with various kinds of food disorders. We provide a safe place to discuss these issues, and teach the 12 step solution. No one member is in charge. We have no dues or fees. We have a secretary who leads the meetings and this position is cycled usually every three months.

(Aloha Diaper Pantry) The Aloha Diaper Bank supports newborns up to 3 years old who are facing poverty or family crises due to job loss or personal circumstances. Working in collaboration with various local agencies that serve low-income, homeless, and families in crisis, we provide essential diapers and wipes. Families are encouraged to register with one of the partner agencies to receive ongoing support and access other valuable services during challenging times. Additionally, the Aloha Diaper Bank offers a one-time emergency assistance package, including 75 diapers and 2 packs of baby wipes, to address immediate needs. The Aloha Diaper Bank Maui Pantry and the Aloha Diaper Bank Kauai Pantry works with partner agencies to distribute diapers to families in need. Provides services for individuals with disabilities. Waiver services include Adult Day Health (ADH), Personal Assistance (PA),Community Learning Service (CLS), and Employment Training. Hands-on vocational training in Commercial Services Department in janitorial,laundry, grounds keeping, event planning (conferences, meeting, etc.), as well as other possible vocational areas.

Protects the unique geological scene and eco-systems containing rare and endangered plants and animals. Provides for public enjoyment of these resources through visitors services, recreation services such as camping, hiking, and swimming, and interpretive programs. Maintains cabin facilities and hiking trails.

(Straub Geriatric Medicine Department) Provides geriatric health services for the frail elderly. Includes consultation, home visits, social worker assessment, information and referral services, clinical assessment on memory loss and depression.

Provides social service and health program for Native Hawaiians aged 60 and over. Serves lunch meal each day. Provides transportation within limited geographical distance to and from site. Provides escort service to medical appointments and other related services. Offers friendly visiting, telephone reassurance and referrals to other community agencies.

Assist individuals to link them to mental health services and entitlements. Case Managers are available to assist with services that include mental health treatment, case management support, food, clothing and housing programs.

The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. (Act 278) Kauai Economic Opportunity has been contracted to administer the Eviction Mediation Pilot Program. This two-year pilot program requires early and free mediation between landlords and tenants before eviction for nonpayment of rent. The program runs February 5, 2026 - February 4, 2028. Tenants have 10 calendar days to respond to an eviction notice. If a tenant requests mediation in 10 day notice period, then the landlord must participate before filing for eviction.
