(Food Pantry) Dynamic Compassion in Action distributes food boxes to persons in need and persons with low-income. Clothing and household goods are distributed at the same site and during same food pantry hours. Volunteers are accepted, but please call first. We accept donations of clean and gently used small household items and clothing. The food distribution is normally a drive through. For persons who walk in please bring a bag, box or wagon. This is an Ohana Produce Plus Distribution and Senior Food Box Program, Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a one a month, federal program helping low-income kupuna.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building, a gymnasium, outdoor tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, swimming pool, boxing gym, and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring, and summer. Activities are geared for all age, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music and dance, seasonal activities, excursions and swimming. Administers federal/state program which assists counties in constructing public wastewater treatment facilities. Regulates all public and private wastewater systems. Determines project priorities. Approves facility plans and engineering reports. Approves construction plans, operation and maintenance. Approves all new wastewater systems and inspects all existing wastewater systems to assure that such systems do not create any public health hazard or nuisance or contaminate coastal waters, streams, or groundwaters. Administers the Statewide Wastewater Operator Training Center and Operator Certification Program.

Offers multipurpose senior programs and congregate meals. Serves as a focal point for service delivery and presentations by other agencies.

Operates a thrift store selling low cost clothing, furniture, household goods, toys and more. Proceeds benefit vocational training and job placement programs for people with barriers to employment.

Provides individual assessment and offers therapy to individuals, couples and families. Conducts group programs including combat trauma, significant others, substance abuse and others depending on needs of clients. Offers crisis assistance and educational/ employment counseling.

(Commodity Supplemental Food Program, CSFP, Hawaii Food Basket Kupuna Pantry) Kupuna Pantry works to improve the health of low-income elderly persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods. Food packages include a variety of foods, such as nonfat dry and ultra high-temperature fluid milk, juice, farina cream of wheat, oats, bran cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned protein meat, poultry, or fish, and canned fruits and vegetables.

(SHEG) A one time, not ongoing financial assistance for households who are homeless or at-risk for homelessness. Single, couples and families. Provides assistance with rent deposit, first month rent, past due rent, utilities when included with rent or if utility assistance prevents homelessness. Utility assistance for renters only. Utilities assistance to prevent the household from losing their housing or prevent homelessness.

Provides family strenthening services to families and communities to prevent child abuse and neglect in the Puna District including home visiting, information, advocacy, child development issues, etc. Abuse and neglect risk also includes high absenteeism at school, economic hardships putting families at risk for homelessness, poverty to the point where unable to meet family's basic needs. minors under 18 - prevention program

(Sexual Abuse Treatment Services) Provides comprehensive services for families and individuals who have experienced sexual abuse within the family. Services are provided to child and adult victims, non-offending partners, alleged juvenile and adult offenders, and siblings. Treatment is provided through individual, dyad, family therapy and an extensive group program. The various components of the program are designed to reinforce each other for more comprehensive treatment. Provides group counseling, individual counseling, mother-daughter counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling services for victims of incest, their siblings, non-offending parents, and offenders.

(Kupu Culinary Social Enterprise, Kupu Grinds, Kupu Culinary, Hookupu Center Catering) The Kupu Culinary Program provides hands-on experience for participants to interact with the food and beverage industry through catering services, event handling, and operating the Kupu Food Truck. Whether supporting large-scale events at the Hookupu Center or preparing daily meals for the Kupu Community Program, Kupu provides participants with industry-aligned training that promotes youth empowerment, job readiness, and workforce development within Hawaii’s growing green economy. The Kupu Culinary Program has responded to disasters in the form of providing meals to those in need. In addition to technical culinary training, participants strengthen essential soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork, equipping them to transition successfully into long-term employment or further educational opportunities in the culinary or service industries.
