Mail phishing campaigns that attempt to a steal users' login name and password by warning recipients that their Internet mail service account is about to be closed if they haven't updated their account information recently and since security is the provider's top priority, they plan to close the account as soon as possible. "Unless you verify this account, it will be closed in 72 hours," warns the typical phishing email. People in the USA with an account who receive this message, or one like it, should ignore the instructions and report the email to the Federal Trade Commission which takes care of spam and fraudulent emails in the U.S. People receiving the email should go to the FTC website, click on "File a Consumer Complaint", Select "Robocall, Unwanted Telemarketing, Text, or SPAM", click on "SPAM" and file the complaint by completing the required steps which are listed. People who have already completed and sent a response to the scam email should log onto their account and change their password.
