Programs that provide a mechanism for the public to report dead birds, usually in an effort to detect, monitor and control the spread of communicable diseases such as West Nile Virus or Avian Influenza. People reporting sick or dead birds are asked to not handle these birds and to note the location, the species if known and the date/time found.
