Individuals who collect garbage and recyclables such as glass bottles and newspapers from homes, schools and businesses and transport it to dumps and landfills or recycling processing centers. Trash collectors lift and empty small garbage cans by hand and operate lifts to pick up and empty dumpsters and heavy cans. Some trash collectors work alone and drive the truck as well as pick up garbage.
