Individuals who are responsible for managing traditional hotels and motels as well as camps, inns, boarding houses, dude ranches and recreational resorts. Wherever they are employed, lodging managers are responsible for keeping their establishments efficient and profitable. In full-service hotels, they help their guests have a pleasant stay by providing many of the comforts of home including cable television, fitness equipment and voice mail as well as specialized services such as health spas. For business travelers, lodging managers often schedule available meeting rooms, ensure that there are Internet connections and provide electronic equipment including computer projectors and fax machines. In small establishments, lodging managers may oversee all aspects of operations whereas in large hotels, management responsibilities are generally departmentalized. Included may be general hotel managers and assistant managers, convention services managers, front office managers and executive housekeepers.
