Taxonomy: Organizational Assets and Needs Assessment

Programs that conduct a structured review of an organization's management functions, or that help the organization to perform such a review. The purpose of the assessment is to describe the current state of affairs in an organization and to identify changes that can be implemented in the short term. The goal is to help an organization improve its ability to deliver services. An assessment typically involves interviews with staff and board members regarding their perceptions of the organization's management capabilities; a review of the organization's governance structure including job descriptions and management procedures; and a final report that recommends changes from organizational management and service delivery perspectives. The report may also make recommendations regarding organizational consolidation and growth, and may include a summary of physical and technological resources that are required to support the organization.
