Programs that help information and referral services plan, implement and effectively use a system which provides for the storage and retrieval of information about agencies and organizations that offer human services for residents of their community. Included are assistance in the selection of a format appropriate to the organization's needs; establishment of inclusion/exclusion criteria; development of specifications for the content, structure, indexing and cross-referencing of agency entries; design of questionnaires to acquire program information from community service providers; development of strategies to verify the accuracy of resource information; formulation of procedures for ensuring that information is updated and maintained on a regular basis; and ensuring that any information maintained about individual clients meets requirements of privacy legislation.
