Programs that that accept equipment such as air masks, disposable latex gloves and new or secondhand automated external defibrillators (AEDs), refurbish them if necessary, and keep them for use in their own program or donate them to other community-based organizations for their own use or for distribution to the people they serve. AEDs can be used by people who have received CPR or AED training to save the lives of individuals who are in respiratory or cardiac arrest. Some jurisdictions have laws which require that life-saving resuscitation equipment be accessible in public places in case of health emergencies.
