Any of a wide variety of devices that can be used to provide for continuity of transportation functions (movement of traffic, pedestrians, transit operations, and access to property/utilities) during times when the normal function of a roadway has been suspended. Included are temporary traffic control signs (regulatory signs, warning signs and guide signs); portable changeable message signs; channelizing devices such as cones, tubular markers, vertical panels, drums, barricades, temporary raised islands and barriers; pavement markings; lighting devices (floodlights, hazard identification beacons, steady-burning electric lamps and warning lights); arrow displays which provide additional warning and directional information to assist in merging and controlling traffic through or around a temporary traffic control zone; portable traffic signals; rumble strips, impact attenuators; and other similar equipment.
