Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in decoupage, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Decoupage is the art of decorating surfaces by applying pictures or other cutouts (usually paper) and then coating with several layers of lacquer or varnish. Activities may include lectures by people with decoupage expertise; demonstrations of basic decoupage techniques; and regular meetings at which members share information about current projects, enjoy the company of other decoupage enthusiasts and have time to work on their projects. Some decoupage clubs may also provide space and materials for decoupage work, sponsor exhibits or sales of art pieces created by members, publish a newsletter or provide a library of resources about the art form. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
