Figure skating competitions that feature teams of up to 24 skaters who perform complicated routines which incorporate a number of maneuvers including circles, lines, blocks, wheels and intersections. The teams are judged on the speed and unison with which they skate, the difficulty and accuracy of their formations and the balance and artistry of their programs. They generally perform a short program with required elements, and a longer, free skating program which has no required elements other than a specified number changes in rhythm, speed or tempo. Teams are free to choose the music and theme for their program and costumes that reflect the theme. Included are organizations that sponsor, organize, hold, promote, sell tickets to and publicize the events; provide information about competition schedules; and/or maintain information about current standings.
