Programs that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy luge sledding, a winter sport in which a small, light sled for one or two people is raced down a twisting, ice-covered course. Sled riders are in a sitting or supine position on their backs with their feet on the front of the sled. When luge sledding is done competitively, the object is to complete the course in the fastest time.
