Programs that provide opportunities for people to learn, become competitive in and enjoy bobsledding, a winter sport in which a large, open metal sled equipped with two pairs of runners in tandem, a long seat for two or more people, a steering wheel, and a hand brake is raced down an ice track with 15 or more steeply banked, twisting curves. One person (the pilot) steers while another pushes off at the beginning of a race and applies the brake at the end. When bobsledding is done competitively, the object is to complete the course in the fastest time.
