Taxonomy: Eritrean Restaurants

Eating establishments that offer the cuisine of Eritrea (a small country on the coast of the Red Sea originally colonized by Italy and until recently part of Ethiopia). Specialties include tibs (sauteed beef and onions in a spicy sauce), kifto (Ethiopian-style steak tartare), red lentil stew, spicy spinach and cabbage, and string beans spiced with tumeric all served with the distinctively sour injera bread which is used to scoop up bites of food. Dishes are served on a central tray from which everyone eats.
