Organizations that provide hospitals, nursing facilities and other medical establishments with personal protective equipment including gloves, gowns, masks and eye protection for doctors, nurses and other staff who work directly with patients, to preclude exposure to infectious agents or chemicals through the respiratory system, skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, nose or mouth. The exact type of PPE required depends on the feared infectious or chemical agent and the anticipated duration of exposure. Employers are expected to make such equipment available and provide training in its use.
